Yeah this paper about Permian fruit is probably wrong, they probably did not at all find Permian fruit, and the fossil record doesn't support any Paleozoic or Triassic angiosperms. Look like a Jurassic at the earliest origin.

Me, filled with imposter syndrome for years: so obviously angiosperms and gymnosperms diverged in the Carboniferous, and just somehow fruit haven't been found in the fossil record yet
