Fun fact, the letter y in English is inherited from the Greek Upsilon. It's even called 'y-grec' in French. So any time you see a loan-word from Greek, like physics, psyche, or mysterious, that y used to be an upsilon.
There was a vowel shift at some point from ooo to eee.
