Dude, why are you being so cryptic? If you have something to say, just say it. This ain't cute, especially during election season. What are you trying to accomplish with this type of vague posting. Is this channel and official representation of the ONDP?

What an even stranger comment.

More than 2,500 New Democrats pitched in to help us raise $355,000 since Doug Ford confirmed an election is coming.

That's momentum.

You know what the best response to this nonsense is? A policy plan to make Canada more economically resilient/independent. The type of stuff the ndp has been fighting for for decades. Don't care which leader will fight Trump hardest. Want to hear how they will build Canada to be strong and free.

11/ Sure, being next to a global superpower like the U.S. has always been a challenge. But it wasnโ€™t inevitable that weโ€™d end up this weak. There was a time when protecting Canadaโ€™s interests and identity was at least part of the agenda.

25.01.2025 00:37 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

10/ Instead, we got tax cuts for multinationals, more outsourcing, and trade deals that let foreign corporations call the shots. Now, Liberals and Conservatives are acting like theyโ€™re the ones whoโ€™ll fix it. Come onโ€”theyโ€™re the ones who created this mess.

25.01.2025 00:37 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

9/ The most frustrating part? Progressives have been warning about this for years. The NDP and social democrats have consistently pushed for policies to protect Canadian independence:

- Reinvesting in domestic manufacturing.

- Processing resources here at home.

- Strengthening internal markets.

25.01.2025 00:37 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

8/ And when the U.S. turns hostile, like now with Trump threatening tariffs and economic bullying, weโ€™re left scrambling. Why? Because weโ€™ve made ourselves vulnerable. Weโ€™ve handed over the leverage, bit by bit, over decades.

25.01.2025 00:36 ๐Ÿ‘ 1 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

7/ These governments told us it was about โ€œefficiencyโ€ and โ€œgrowth,โ€ but what they really did was sell out Canadaโ€™s long-term interests for short-term gains. Now weโ€™re completely dependent on the U.S. for our food, energy, technologyโ€”you name it.

25.01.2025 00:36 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

6/ This didnโ€™t happen by accident. For decades, both Liberal and Conservative governments:

Signed trade deals like NAFTA that gutted our local economy.

Slashed corporate taxes for multinationals.

Privatized public assets and essential services.

25.01.2025 00:36 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

5/ Now, look at where we are. Our industries? We export raw materials instead of processing them here. Our food supply? Dominated by U.S.-owned brands like Kraft and Heinz. Infrastructure? Dependent on foreign technology and investment.

25.01.2025 00:35 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

3/ But over the last few decades, that conversation has all but disappeared. Neoliberal policiesโ€”embraced by both Liberals and Conservativesโ€”have hollowed us out. Weโ€™ve sold off or abandoned so much of what used to make us self-reliant.

25.01.2025 00:35 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

2/ Even when we couldnโ€™t match the U.S.โ€™s scale, there was a real effort to build up Canadian industries, support local businesses, and maintain some level of independence. Politiciansโ€”at least on paperโ€”pretended to care about protecting Canada.

I just think people are feeling tense and worried about the future and need to see how the NDP will make Ontario and Canada better able to deal with the nonsense coming from South of the border. This should be an easy win. Decades of neoliberal lib and con govs got us where we are today. Think big!

There's been a lot of talk of why Doug Ford is calling an early election. Here's my response:

Marit, above all else please go hard on showing Ontarians how the NDP policies would build a more resilient and dynamic province, rather than just focusing on how bad Ford is or how you're going to fight back against Trump. Ontarians desperately crave someone with a real vision who offers them hope.

I donโ€™t know, maybe itโ€™s just me, but I feel like this is exactly the wrong time to give to the keys to our country to a guy whoโ€™s spent the last two-plus years telling us all how bad our country is.
