Both of these are examples of Black women not only strategically supporting the freedom of others but logistically. Harriet became solely responsible for any freed enslaved folks without a single dollar to aid in their care. She worked with Black soldiers to make and sell good to support them
The Combahee River Collective was a group of Black lesbian socialists who spoke out about the need to center Black Women in our collective liberation as we are uniquely positioned to understand the full brunt of ills this government is capable of
Combahee is named dually for the Combahee River Collective and the battle itself. How did Harriet remain on the boat as plantation after plantation burned? The Combahee Ferry Raid was when Harriet Tubman commanded a military operation that burned 7 plantations and freed 750 enslaved people
