The underlying thing making democracy impossible is the vast fortunes of the extremely rich and any Democrat unwilling to support wealth taxes is not interested in addressing Americaβs biggest problem.

In other words itβs not just vague anti-establishment backlash at work in these races, itβs organized labor power. From @unitehere.org :
Heard from some people at @unitehere.org today miffed that the NYT didnβt mention the unionβs role in these NC racesβthey knocked on 46,000 doors! And this story doesnβt mention sone people quoted are Unite Here members.

Note that Gavin Newsom's main objection to a state wealth tax is "billionaires will go to another state"--an objection that is solved by having a national wealth tax. Remember this when Newsom comes out against a national wealth tax when he runs for president.

The litmus test that actually matters for 2028 Democratic presidential candidates is "do not vote for them if they don't support a wealth tax."

"The class of people telling us that government will step in to prevent the worst economic outcomes of our era is the same class of people who are working to prevent the government from doing so"

My research is on working class women and AI and the ONE consistency among all of the interviews weβve done so far is concerns about data centers and environmental impact. We do not bring it up - they do. Every single one.

I agree and I am confident that this eventual government action will be over the strenuous objections of the investment class
CITADEL'S ANALYSIS: Expect "regulatory and fiscal policy shifts" to "offset the worst-case outcomes" of AI and inequality.
CITADEL'S OWNER: Gives $100 million to Republicans to prevent any such regulatory and fiscal policy shifts.
The case against the dystopian scenario of AI-fueled inequality says that the government will step in to prevent the worst economic outcomes. The people making that case are, themselves, working as hard as possible to prevent the government from doing so.

Smirking and chuckling and saying "and you're surprised by this?" when I am killed in a Hezbollah attack on the New York City subway system
so, torture. theyβre torturing them as federal policy. entirely predictable, but that doesnβt make it any less evil
βCover the American government the same as foreign governmentsβ is the final frontier of journalistic objectivity and one that has never been approached by the outlets most fond of declaring themselves to be objective.
Itβs interesting to observe that when a US president, no matter how evil, dies, the journalistic convention is to strike a somber and respectful tone of loss, but when a foreign leader is killed by us it can be played purely as a story of geostrategy with no obligatory pseudo-sadness whatsoever.
βOpening the door to things like βpreemptive warβ to head off some form of βreal or concocted) threat has the same effect as saying it is ok to shoot someone if they make you feel nervous. It causes a lot of people to get shot unnecessarily.β

This guy just saying any tough quotes he can remember. βRemember the Alamo.β You have to try to match the quote to reality so it doesnβt sound stupid man
"We are wrong because we started the war" should be the anchor point for all coverage of what's happening and it's remarkable how quickly that tends to get obscured.

Florida Republicans are moving forward with legislation that could wipe out many remaining public sector unions in Florida and make it harder for most public employees (not just teachers) to form a union in the first place. It could also be unconstitutional www.orlandoweekly.com/news/labor/f...
