No idea what it was about, but one of the crazy bastards pulled out a gun and aimed while screaming at the other.

He let the other guy run off, but damn if I didn't think I was about to witness a homicide.

Meanwhile, I'm over here listening to heavy metal and smooth jazz while writing furry fantasy smut.

Draft 6- Rejected for further editing. Repeat steps 1-5 ad nauseum.

Draft 4- (curled up sobbing because you don't feel the work is "original" enough).
Draft 5- (nervous breakdown as you D E S P E R A T E L Y try to get the word count down again fit within the publisher's guidelines without sacrificing then story).
Draft 6- send to publisher.

Draft 1- vomit all the ideas out and turn them into words.
Draft 2- last one was all over the place. Let me tidy it up and make it coherent.
Draft 3- holy SHIT how is this over 200k words?!?? I need to shorten this!

why is it that every time I submit a piece of writing I worry that every is going to be mad at it.

My first attempt at either of those two, at that. So far, far outside of my usual wheelhouse.

Hence why I was so worried about the critique being much harsher than it actually was.

Primarily horror and sci/fi. Though the critique in question *started* as an attempt to write a one-off of furry smut. Next thing I know, I've got 3 novels worth of lore and world-building along with a bunch of *suspiciously*-detailed sex and romance scenes.
