The marigolds on the windowsill burned like small, stubborn suns, keeping silent vigil over the long afternoons when no one came home. Loyal to a fault and needing no green thumb to grow, they bloomed well into the fall.

Blessed and #bountiful were the trees' unbooted roots when on a morning stretch he felt the tingle of thready toes. Sensing a soul connection he grew toward the first light to penetrate his bark armour. His branches create a protective arm around her and waits for their canopies to connect.

we feel it deep down—

we are beasts after all

even if we wear suits
& pretend to be more—
gods even

as if we're not bound
to the land
that sprouted us

with this ship

for granted

ever poking holes
in the hull

The drought had been long and punishing with the fields yellowing and the turf crisp. At long last the drought broke with a torrential rain. A bountiful hush lay over the fields after the rain, every new blade of green grass shining like a small, stubborn miracle

Life is #bountiful. It is a cornucopia of moments - moments of joy, moments of wonder, of horror, of love, of despair, recovery, kindness, hope, understanding - all of these continually surprising, widening and deepening us, even when we think we’ve reached our limits.

Snow filled driveway and structures nearly buried in it.

Outside, the snow kept falling.

He’d been shoveling for days, but now #lethargy draped itself over his shoulders like a weighted blanket.

He didn’t need to get to the garage anymore.

The front door? There was food enough for a week.

He laid down and listened to the quiet of the cold.
