Yesterday (despite the miserable weather!) we installed a LICOR evapotranspiration sensor and a new anemometer on our eddy covariance system monitoring a young Sitka spruce stand. The data will allow us to compare the sensors in preparation for future forest research projects. 🌳πŸ§ͺ

Nice data set! The apparent increase in light over time is interesting - any thoughts on why? Less cloud cover? Or reduced contrails as society switches away from air travel to rail for long distances (we can wish!).

Making use of data from 38 stations in Europe, ICOS can report that the COβ‚‚ level in the atmosphere increased with 3.08 ppm in 2025. This value exceeds the average over the past 10-20 years of about 2.5 ppm/year. This information is available through #ICOSCurve tool.

UK β€˜already seeing impact of climate change’, says Met Office scientist The Met Office announced today that 2025 was the warmest and sunniest year in the UK since records began, beating the previous record set only three years ago.

The scientific evidence is absolutely crystal clear:

We are certain the world is warming because we're burning fossil fuels and putting more greenhouse gases in the atmosphere

So we have to stop doing that

We also need to adapt to the changes we've already caused
