Which is also why I say I would not want it to be me; if they somehow did fill the role they ‘actually’ need it would probably be hell for that person because they illustrate some super clear patterns in thought process/behaviour. That person would deserve 350k/yr 😂

I think they hired someone experienced in what they want for the role, & specifically did NOT fill the ‘type’ of role they actually need. Probably because of what @thevowel.com said elsewhere, they don’t want to be told what to say/do

At the director/exec level, community/comms folks have been through enough of these crisis scenarios to prevent them more often than not, read patterns, & spot how societal shifts/cultural moments play into it all.

But they have to be able to follow direction/strategy.

There is no better biz to pull from than the community management veterans in games. I’m talking folks with 15 years under their belt yet still stay current on trends, but folks through long yrs of experience understand how community uproar is a moving beast similar to how firefighters view fire.

They need someone that has been fire-tested by first-hand experience handling both legitimate & illegitimate scandals/boycotts, understands that in both of these they still have to partially own how their own actions can make things worse, & someone that understands relationship building messaging
