What’s the difference between a gov controlling an algorithm, silently eliminating reach for things it doesn’t like, vs the same gov using its power, to demand that the platform remove the things it doesn’t like.?

In China they are overt. With TikTok in the US, they control silently

Musk is a public order threat of the highest category, spewing far-right lies in order to destabilise political systems across Europe. Suing him for libel (which this clearly is) won’t work, just shut his network down completely.
The @ec.europa.eu needs to get serious about defending EU rule of law.

In other news the OBR report the Gov’t keeps quoting from says Brexit is on course to cut UK trade by a staggering 15%. Hiding from it won’t make it go away

Afterall, the Times also managed to publish an entire article on James Dyson opposing this change without once mentioning that he reportedly owns more land than the monarch…

Sad story in The Times about 88 year old farmer, John Kemp-Welch, who works 5,000 acres of difficult hill farming land in Scotland.....(sobs...)
Fortunately, he somehow found time to be Chair of the London Stock Exchange, a stockbroker for 30 years and on the board of HSBC....etc etc etc

Here’s a short story about who wins and loses from the status quo of our inheritance tax rules - and about, what you might politely call ‘sub-optimal’ journalism🧵

Trump hoodwinked voters about his worst policy commitments They signed up for Project 2025 whether they knew it or not.

"Trump has no mandate to implement Project 2025 -- in fact he denied all links with it on the campaign trail. But because of the trifecta voters handed Republicans, it's likely to happen nonetheless."
