Haha! There's something about the PS1/N64 era of 3D first person shooters that just don't do it for me anymore.
I love games like DOOM 64, or Powerslave or even Quake 1 and 2. But then I start playing Medal of Honor, Turok, Goldeneye and to a lesser degree, Perfect Dark and I just don't feel it
I have to admit, I can't get into Goldeneye today, though then again, I can't get into Turok or Medal of Honor either.

My theory is that sega appealed mostly to the Otaku and hard-core gaming crowd.
So they're more likely to work or influence gaming and anime.
Whereas something like the PS1 and super famicom appealed to a more casual Japanese crowd who went on to become salary men

Since you mentioned it, I’ve paid more attention to this and it’s true: Sega consoles are clearly overrepresented in anime/manga given their popularity.

So how do you explain the mega drive being more popular in Japanese media than the Saturn?
Sure but the mega drive gets more modern representation than even the saturn, snes, pc engine or the the ps1
