The @houseofcommons.parliament.uk rejected the science-based amendment 40 to the Planning and Infrastructure Bill (244 votes to 132). We will continue to campaign to limit the damage this badly thought out piece of legislation will do.

Amendment 40 to the Planning and Infrastructure Bill has been voted down.

Had it passed, it would have meant more precious wildlife would have retained existing protections.

Instead, MPs have bought into the false 'nature vs growth' narrative.

Trump wants to destroy the BBC and take our money. And Nigel Farage is egging him on.

All true patriots should tell them both: hands off our BBC.

Trump's White House & fawning hacks here don't really care about the 0.001% that the BBC gets wrong. They care about all the stuff it gets right.

Burning banned on England’s deep peat to protect wildlife Ban on burning heather and grass on deep peat extended to improve air quality for local communities, reduce flood risk and protect wildlife.

Great to see that government WILL ban moorland burning on peat deeper than 30cm, and over a much greater area than previously

Big win for communities who've suffered the smoke + floods stemming from this Victorian practice

Only losers are ~150 wealthy grouse moor owners

Migrants didn't cut council funding. Migrants didn't cut NHS funding. Migrants didn't close youth centres. Migrants didn't sell off council houses. Migrants aren't filling our rivers with sewage.

Farage and co. will tell you to point the finger at migrants.

Don't fall for it.

Trump is now claiming that museums are the last segment of wokeness in America. There’s a lot we could say about how completely absurd and unhinged that is, but honestly, his own words say more than we ever could. Here’s what he posted:

@wildflowerhour.bsky.social - A week late, but I'm just going through my 2025's new orchid species photos, & found this. Missed it earlier. Red Helleborine plus #pollinatorpals on a wonderful BBOT visit in Buckinghamshire. Can anyone ID the tiny bee(??)? Plus a better image of a flower.

It's the plant people love to hate... and it's going to be everywhere this summer.

But ragwort is actually a wildlife powerhouse. Read the blog my Knepp's lead ecologist Matt Phelps: https://knepp.co.uk/2025/06/a-big-year-for-ragwort-the-plant-we-love-to-hate/

Jane Goodall's quote in The Observer is perfect "What if caring for our planet is not merely an environmental concern but the very foundation of our survival". Our politicians don't get this yet.

Some excellent reporting in The Observer today on our threatened marine environment. Well done Steve Reed for announcing a ban on bottom trawling in 41 UK MPAs - now extend it to all our MPAs. Also ratify the UN Global Oceans Treaty.

Prochlorococcus, a marine bacterium that is only 0.5–0.7 micrometers wide, produces more oxygen than all tropical rainforests combined.

Every tiny organism plays a key role in our planet's health.
