Our #ObjectoftheDay is this reconstructed #ancientGreek white #ground lekythos, a pottery type commonly used for the storage of oil. It is of the black figure type and shows the winged #goddess #Nike, the goddess of #victory. It can be dated to the late 6th or early 5th century BC.

The sock is ankle height, and knitted in red, green and yellow stripes. It has a separate toe for the big toe so the sock can be worn with sandals.
It's been a bit chilly over the last in the UK, so for #FindsFriday, here's a rather gorgeous Roman Period knitted children's sock to help your toesies feel cosy. It was found in Oxyrhynchus in Egypt, and is now in the collection at Manchester Museum.

Very nostalgic to be back at the University of Birmingham today. A peaceful morning stroll before presenting at the #ImageAndAuthority workshop.

We are starting with this #ancientEgyptian #Saqqara #relief from the #Tomb of Akhethotep, dated to the Old Kingdom, Dynasty 6.
Beautiful weather with scattered showers led to this amazing little one waking up for its journey. It reminds me of my writeup progress over the past couple of weeks. However, sometimes we need to move slowly to achieve great distances. #snailspace #snail #nature #phdwriteup #phdlife #garden
