The uni experience now and the one I had (I started undergrad in 2002) is so completely different it should be called a different thing.

β€˜A nation of rich cowards’: Australia needs its dreamers but the arts are underfunded, undervalued and despised We need a society that values its visionaries, those who go against the grain to create new dreams that reveal other ways of being

β€˜It’s financial stupidity to enter the humanities in any of our universities, and the current federal government has done nothing to abate that.’ Great piece by Ben Quilty on our undervaluing of the arts in Australia:

There is no justification for owning a gun.

Unless you are a member of the military, law enforcement or a farmer there is simply no need for it.

We must rid our streets of every unnecessary firearm in the country. Enough. We can not be allowed to follow America’s morally bankrupt culture.

Movie you’ve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (either War or Trek), LOTR, or Marvel…

Watching POTO in my early adolescence changed my life and solidified my taste in literature, film and theatre.

My dog started like that and it became evident she had some issues. It’s been very slow but now she trusts us but is still weary (we have had her for a year and a bit) however she is very quirky and silly and it’s been a great lesson for all of us.

Today I learned that β€œPossession” by A.S Byatt is on the new English Extension syllabus as an elective.

I know this is probably old news but I couldn’t be more excited (to hopefully) teach it one day.

A still life painting with dark background. It depicts a woven wicker basket piled high with plums - about 20 are visible - sitting on a wooden ledge or table. In front of the basket are about 10 apricots. At the left of the painting a white cockatoo sits on the surface, facing the fruit. In the right bottom corner is a plum cut in half, with the stone removed and the cut side up. At the top right is a blue tit, facing across the top of fruit.
