2023 WHO data noted that 5 countries in the WHO African and Eastern Mediterranean Regions stopped preventive chemotherapy after impact assessments demonstrated an STH prevalence <2%.

These countries showcase the effectiveness of STH control efforts in reducing its prevalence.

WHO data suggests that the total number of children requiring PC for STH decreased by 21.7 million between 2022 and 2023. This reduction shows the positive impact that global STH control programs have had in helping eliminate suffering from intestinal worm infections in children around the world.

CWW's epidemiologist, Dr. Sullivan, recently visited Bangladesh to collaborate with the STH Control Program of the DGHS, MOHFW in preparation of upcoming #STH school-based surveys.
