See you this afternoon!
Last year I had the opportunity to participate in the 2025 Summer Institute: Digital Humanities for Hellenic Studies at Princeton Athens Center. It was an extremely rewarding experience; rich learning, inspiring people, and insightful conversations. Highly recommend applying if you're interested!

A coalition of Scottish heritage orgs secured it at auction for Β£279,000.
This modernist gem by Peter Womersley will now be restored for public + creative use.
π Huge congratulations to all involved!
Professor Machiel Kiel (February 25, 1938-July 7, 2025) passed away yesterday.
A special loss for Greek ottoman history as well. Machiel Kiel was the first to show, in a couple of publications he co-authored with the architect Dimitris Karydis in the early 1980s, that Greek populations

Excellent news that the Bernat Klein studio has been bought by a coalition of heritage groups. The hard work starts here. Photo by me in 2016.
Very cool! Just to confirm, is this drop-in or do we need to book ahead? Thanks!
A research tool built by journalists on Greece's intense demolition and construction activity is also a strong example of a digital humanities project in architectural history, that utilizes crowdsourcing methods. Let's record our lost architectural heritage and raise awareness!
Excellent research! Congratulations @dankon.bsky.social

The first person to discover a link between increased levels of CO2 and #globalwarming was a New Yorker named Eunice Newton Foote. Read her 1856 paper, and how she went unacknowledged for more than a century, here: publicdomainreview.org/collection/f... #earthday #climatechange

Today marks a terrible day for Greek history. Two years ago 57 people -mostly students- died in a head-on collision of two trains in Tempi. Today inconceivable number of people filled the streets even in the less populated areas, for justice and against govt cover-up & corruption. We have no oxygen.
