I see that we're all in a race to the bottom on how we treat people who come here who make the places we live better.

Somehow, there's a Herblock for every national crisis
they knew they could get away with it because they practiced all those times on the βnarco-terroristβ boats, where they also killed the survivors, and nobody sent them to The Hague about it so they are running completely unchecked right now with full use of the arsenal. I do not know how this ends
I follow them on Instagram and really want one of their shirts.
Someone give me a slow night at a chill bar and can we just make it a Neil Young club.

wanting to tap the sign again that you can be a great, smart, and capable person and not have a college degree, and some of the worst people in the world have multiple degrees from way more prestigious schools than what most of us went to.
home prices in my neighborhood have doubled and so have the rents and a friend told me about how a guy from California move into the neighborhood and ask if he should get on food stamps because he "only" makes $100K a year and his new neighbors all looked at him in horror.
I got a really rage inducing one sent to me about a "Cuyahoga River Fire widow" that had the Cincinnati skyline in the background.
These guys are constantly telling on themselves that they canβt imagine anyone acting on an actual principle. Protesters? Must be getting paid. Bishops noticing that Jesus had some thoughts on welcoming the stranger? Gotta be a payday in there.
It's bad how often I come back to that one Walker Percy book these days.
YEP! (though I doubt that a signatory who uses Torquemada as his name is upset about that unfortunately. )

I SHOULD HAVE ASKED THE QUESTION. I couldn't believe it was for real and he just kept going on and on.
dude, like, you can buy Mrs. T's at any grocery store and right now it is fish fry season. I don't understand.
Still thinking about the guy I overheard at the thrift store telling the girl he was with about how pierogies are his favorite food and " YOU JUST CAN'T GET THEM IN CLEVELAND, I MISS THEM SO MUCH" and having so many questions.
still wish he would've covered "Liar" by the Rollins Band when he was doing those weird covers.
I had so many amazing old t-shirts that have all since fallen apart, including an awesome cartoony Halley's Comet one that glowed in the dark, a Toledo Dahlia Society one, about 5 R.E.M. "Monster" tour shirts. Occasionally I come across stuff at the thrift store that reminds me of my teens, still.
through the 90s and early 2000s, I wore my dad's olive drab National Guard pants, the occasional baggy pants from the mall, and a LOT of random and often ill-fitting thrift store hoodies and t-shirts that I wish I still had but they absolutely fell apart 20 years ago.
I told a friend about this who grew up mainline and she sent me this very funny trad thing. web.archive.org/web/20080331...
that and an $1100 roof repair and I'm going to get scolded for not "enjoying" my house and then it's "why don't you want to come over for dinner anymore so your dad can yell at you about how there's only two genders and I'll say you're the angry one."
too bad I needed two crowns for cracked molars and a second mammogram because the first one couldn't tell if I had cancer or not!
This just happened to me and my mom's like "why are you so unhappy all the time" (I'm really not! I just don't like having very real day to day concerns about feeling one bad break away from destitution invalidated!).
oh I had no idea you took that "Amish Country" route in when you'd come through there.
Classifieds definitely seemed to take more work & money (paying for an ad, checking your mailbox either in person or online, having to write a letter or whatever).
[guy who has only interacted with rapture evangelicals interacting with their second religious person]: getting a lot of rapture vibes here
feel like there is a direct connection between academics who cozied up to Epstein and those who are now stanning for AI bullshit
a particular tendency towards ego ticking and the possibility of scoring patronage that blocks out any thought about the folks providing it
I am thankful I got to experience those parts of Old Cleveland but I miss them.
oh I'm seeing myself a bit!
I almost started screaming thinking about a certain disgraced ex-Guardian Angel mayor or the AM radio barbershop guy showing up on a true crime podcast.
Someone called me doing research on that O'Jays cold case that the Rolling Stone article is about and I am having a lot of thoughts about certain local figures who got interviewed for that story.
