hey folks, a client that owes me quite a bit of money has been very slow in paying me, so I'm gonna struggle a bit over the next couple months. if you've got any short-term editing work, or want to buy one of mine and @llewellynrose.bsky.social's comics, it'd be a big help. ko-fi.com/s/71c6cf0fd1

An image of me but my mouth is a cat face, with the text "I'm speaking at GDC 2026" underneath it
I'm speaking at GDC again! I'll be joining @richardrouse.bsky.social's "Rules of the Game" talk, as well as returning for @toiya.bsky.social's "Q&A for New Writers" panel.
I love connecting with narrative design and cinematics folks while I'm out there. Let's hangout!

Reminder: All it would take to end the murder of American citizens by an untrained government goon squad is 16 Republicans in Congress voting with Dems to defund ICE (or 23 to impeach and remove Trump β 3 in House & 20 in Senate). Thatβs it. 23 Americans can vote for the public and end all of this.
A fresh one from me! I wrote about fandom, what characters "deserve," lesbians and our desire to Return To The Past.
What does it mean to wind back the clock and why does that seem to be *the* thing many folks want from art now?

The image is a screenshot of the machine from the game TR-49. It's a contraption of wires and levers, with a glowing circular screen, and a code-entry window of two letter followed by two numbers. There's a face floating in the glass of the screen.
Btw, we've been sharing reviews all morning, but a lot have spoilers in them! TR-49 is best experienced as it presents itself. Set yourself 2 hours.
Curl up with an iPad or Deck, if you can. Have a pen handy if you like: definitely a cup of tea, so it can go cold.
Trust us. The TR49 has got you.
Call me old-fashioned, but I think itβs incredibly crass to demand certain (controversial) story beats from your writing team, fire that writing team, then throw that writing team under the bus for decisions *they didnβt make* while marketing your new thing.
Very crass! Very ick!

2026, I don't want to see another post about 'layoff-proof" advice.
"Here's how your resume can be layoff proof" absolutely not, workers can't change the cash flow of a company or the expectations of studio leadership in a way that is big enough to avoid a furlough/layoff/mass firing.

James Baxter is one of the only living animators on planet earth that could make a joke about squash and stretch/follow-through animation this good. I lost my shit at the extreme smear bit when Gumball turns around.

Holy shit I just found out that Gearbox made a plush of Gortys from βTales from the Borderlandsβ?? This might be the first time Iβve ever seen official merch of a character I helped create.

Well⦠I immediately ordered that.
at a certain level of any creative or intellectual collaborative job the main task is sin-eater: to fix what you can and get blamed for what you canβt, secretly knowing how much worse it would have been if you hadnβt done what you did.

Credits for Brent Porter (3D art lead) and Catherine Menabde (2D art lead) are shown here. There's a lengthy description of what they did, with a pastiche of various Demonschool characters underneath, messing around with a computer.
We did something different with the credits for Demonschool. We used this format: name, title, lengthy description of what they did. Often you see credits in games where you don't know what the credited developer was actually responsible for. We wanted to give people proper, actual credit.
a couple years ago i had a Magic story come out about a sad detective who gets seduced to the dark side by a necromancer, and they posted it under some random guy's name at first, which I think resulted in fans of my previous work missing it. anyway i like it. apparently it was too gay for Russia

Somehow, today marks the tenth (?!) anniversary of the launch of βMinecraft: Story Mode.β It was a bit of a punching bag for the internet and social media back then, but it has unbelievably continued to draw fans all these years later even while unavailable to play in any (official) form.

I'm often reminded that Demon Days is a perfect album. I think it hits harder now than it did at release, for me, but I've loved it since day 1.
