Don’t get me wrong - I’d also like it to be 1996 again and Star Trek to be on regular television. But that doesn’t really exist anymore and streaming services are the television networks of the future. Maybe that sucks but it’s the reality.

Merging Paramount+ and HBO Max may have some upside for #StarTrek, which is currently locked behind the streaming service with one of the lower subscriber numbers. A bigger service with HBO/WB content will expand the exposure of Trek to more viewers. Plenty to dislike about Para/WB but not that.

This is a good moment for personal reflection given everything that's been said on this topic in the last week. #StarTrekStarfleetAcademy
Haha new respect for Captain Janeway, huh? Sounds challenging!
Who’s playing the new #StarTrek Voyager game Across the Unknown? Is it any good?
Ok 🤷🏻♂️ Be mad about it then I guess.
They’re not TOS uniforms. They’re pretty similar to TOS uniforms - and agreed that nothing stops Star Trek from going through a throwback phase - but they’re not wearing TOS uniforms.
“Why are they wearing TOS uniforms?”
They’re…clearly not? No rank on the sleeves, the glint off the delta means it’s a badge.
Why is it not possible that these Starfleet uniforms took inspiration from the 23rd century?
And why is everyone’s media literacy SO BAD???
#StarTrekStarfleetAcademy
Kerrice Brooks is so good in that episode
“Come, Let’s Away” but stay for the absolutely crackling scenes between two of #StarTrek’s most talented performers - Holly Hunter and Paul Giamatti. The pilot’s “origami chicken” scene is a C+ compared to the A++ of dialogue and performances in this episode. MORE PLEASE. #StarTrekStarfleetAcademy
Kerrice Brooks makes the most interesting and compelling acting choices as Sam in “Series Acclimation Mil” that makes this episode so rewatchable. I’ve seen it four times already and every time I’m catching some new line reading, look, or gesture that enthralls me. #StarTrekStarfleetAcademy
A small lagoon therein.
And of course a lot of people in today’s military are good and ethical. But the system has their backs when they make a moral choice rather than the America First choice.
It’s from a different “end of history” era where it just felt like the world was going to continue improving and more people would drink the democracy koolaid. Just be good people and good things will happen. It’d be nice if there’s actual world went back to this.
Of course there are plenty of bad actors in the show who do share a more Trumpian worldview of might makes right, that’s where the drama comes from. But from the president on down, most of the characters in this show seek to do the right thing rather than the strong thing. It’s a very 90s worldview.
I’ve been doing a #Stargate SG-1 rewatch (currently in season 5) and going back to this show after Trump, Venezuela, Greenland, tariffs etc it’s comforting and a little jarring to watch the US military exploring the galaxy and being fundamentally good and ethical.
“Vox in Excelso” is a real gem and the first #StarTrekStarfleetAcademy episode where I said to myself: I think I might love this show? This is, in my opinion, the best Klingon episode since DS9 and the high stakes drama totally works in the context of a grounded character episode. A+ world building.
It’s never too early to start planning what ornaments you want on next year’s Christmas tree. #StarTrek
Being a smug bastard is a Vulcan cultural trait.
How you feel about Captain Ake’s posture makes a strong statement about how socially well adjusted you are. Those who live in the real world with actual people know it doesn’t fucking matter how you sit in a chair; it matters how you lead, how you teach, and how you lift people up. #StarfleetAcademy
You know the problem with modern #StarTrek? Old Star Trek would NEVER have thought to show one of its characters show a serious character flaw because of something as silly as a sports game and use that to show growth and have to learn to be a better person. SMH.
#StarTrek would NEVER show its officers engaging in unbecoming trash talking 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 So unprofessional. 🙄
Shhhhhh 😂
Should have made one of those #StarTrek movies they keep talking about.
Always!
