Steam boat last night, pancakes this morning, iftar tonight?
Hard for teachers to call in sick on Mondays, because Monday students already miss so many lessons.
Some students enter UK secondary school unable to use a mouse then learn on systems too locked down to teach real computing, with web-app delivered content. In a cyber war, the UK would not have time to "ramp up", we'd be toast. Once we have sufficiently neutered AI, our ignorance will be complete.
Microsoft Windows and Office have become so web-centric in many schools that local file workflows are barely usable. This actively undermines the teaching of real computing, particularly when centralised security policies arbitrarily disable core functionality.
Tha same room has a broken AC, and one of the two ceiling windows is broken so cannot be opened. Luckily there are 4 others that can be opened a little (don't want the kids jumping out of the frying pan).
Any other teachers still teaching in classrooms with the radiators on?
Trump has no teeth, so Putin will not listen.
The next big step in AI will be pro-active as opposed to reactive agents. AI's that actively pursue goals, and chase students for work while offering challenging timely questions.
AI has dramatically improved my life. It does so many little jobs that used to drain my mental energy.
Looking to do an ethical hacking course, any recommendations?
Avoiding Cyber-security as reading curriculums it's mainly understanding the threats and how to avoid them. I need something more practical.
Might have to bite the bullet and start my own dev business.
I have always struggled in education, and finding jobs. Conversely I have always done well in jobs. From September all I need is a job I can build up a head of steam, preferably something involving python and learning.
In teacher training schools teach you the theories they want you to use. The universities teach you many more, some of which are significantly better, but sometimes harder to implement.
The loss of teacher autonomy over the past decade threatens not only our pupils' education but also the future of the profession, warns @samgibbs.bsky.social
England faces drought as reservoir water levels dwindle. Rationing beckons.
Population increased but no new reservoirs for 35 yrs; no desalination plants.
Companies fleeced customers, borrowed to pay high dividends, low investment.
People pay for privatisation follies. End the scam. Nationalise.
... you blend tech, teaching, and curiosity into everything you touch. Whether you're shaping young minds or building apps with flair, you're driven by purpose, precision, and just enough mischief to make it interesting.
How ChatGPT described me based on our chat history:
Code-slinging educator by day, reflective thinker by night — you're a Python-powered, ink-pen-wielding, garden-dreaming, lesson-crafting innovator. With one foot in the classroom and the other in the command line, ...
Education restricts time for intrinsic learners to explore autonomously, they are much too focused on ensuring extrinsically motivated individuals have a clear learning path.
Self-regulated, life-long learners are not given time to explore, and it's this exploration that produces new insights.
So pro Brexit Spectator show how to use reverse psychology with brexiteers.
They sell EU youth mobility as key to placating the young with a bone to save Brexit.
As polling continues to show under 30s are far and away the least enthusiastic about Brexit.

It would be nice if we could teach smaller groups. Our students need a lot of personal attention to really fulfil their potential.
Let's hope this student is similarly gifted.
They have been banned from both phones and computers. Not exactly sure on the why.
Agreed, but powers above my station disagree. Might talk to the parents.
I did consider approaching the parents about allowing a CLI Linux / Python system with no network access.
Yes, this is very apt.
Okay, I hadn't heard of that. And it's something I might research. It might be beyond a pre-gcse year 9 though. Although the student is very bright.
Ideas for teaching computing to a student banned from computers?
Year 9, the rest of the class will spend the whole term on App Lab building a movie booking site.
First lesson is tomorrow and I have nothing.
Climbing centre injected an ear worm into my head, which I committed to downloading. Of course I forgot the song as soon as I left. Luckily 4 days later I woke up with the song playing in my head.
Absolutely, when we moved back to the UK we hyper analysed schools reports. We applied for an outstanding and got accepted, but were placed in a different school in the Trust. On paper it didn't look great, but our daughter thrived there, and refused to move when given the option.
