Manchester City Council passed our Manchester Labour budget of just over ยฃ1 BILLION pounds to make Manchester better:
๐ถ Investing in top class childrenโs services to keep our kids safe, healthy and help them thrive
๐ง Supporting vulnerable residents across the city to live independent good lives
Good to see this rolled out across GM.
Too many kids are held back by homelessness.
Weโre fighting back in Manchester, more social and council homes, stopping families in b&bs, funding prevention- thatโs why weโre bucking the trend and *reducing* homelessness.
This will help in the meantime ๐๐ผ

Thank you to everyone who has worked through Christmas and New Year to make this happen. ๐๐ป
2024 was quite a year for Manchester. From world class events, more jobs and a record number of council homes built.
Hereโs to making Manchester an even better city. The best place to grow up and get on- where everyone benefits from our growth.
In Manchester we are working hard to prevent and reduce homelessness.
Support from Government is crucial for us to meet our ambitions. We know Govt is committed to working with us to help end homelessness.

Great to welcome Liz Kendall MP to Smith Sq for a wide ranging discussion with @bevcraig.bsky.social about tackling child poverty, devolving employment support and the role local councils play in getting people back to work.
Proud that Manchester will be one of the first councils to get winter hardship payments into the bank accounts (or post office!) of at risk older people this winter.

Manchester is building more council and social homes than at any point in the last 15 years.
Last year over 600 new council, social, genuinely affordable homes low carbon homes were built and weโre onsite with another 2,248.
Working with Government & GM we want to exceed our 10,000 target!
