That sort of kickstarted an interest in interstate 440 and I’ve spent considerable time parsing through the environmental impact statement for that project. All the concerns I’m seeing today about this project are the same ones expressed by the community way back when that project was approved.
Beyond the disruption from construction, this project would have provided no benefit to the community – it would’ve provided increased instances of childhood asthma for my son, more vehicle miles traveled to pollute his atmosphere and a constant hum of automobiles to keep him awake at night.
Before we decided to settle in Old Hickory Village, we were looking at a home in Woodbine when the first round of information was released on choice lanes. One factor that push us away from the area was the potential for massive flyover lanes at the junction of 440 and 24.
This is an incredibly disruptive and destructive project that will do nothing to improve congestion or whatever the heck the state thinks they’re accomplishing here.
