Since so much of the misinformation these days is generated or filtered by Russia, we should understand the tactics.
You know things aren't going well for the Russian economy when the Ruble is even collapsing against the currency of the country on which they are waging genocidal war.
What if a cynical leader made shockingly unqualified hot button cabinet nominations to set off mass symbolic resignations—so, in turn, those vacant positions could be filled by people who will blindly obey? Seems patriotism would mean: Take the much harder road to stay and fight for what’s right
In the early days of social media I saw hope it could democratize knowledge and broaden the voices we hear. Mostly the opposite has been true. I hold out hope Bluesky —esp a biz model that’s harder for megalomaniacs to control—can show us a glimmer of what is possible. Send me ideas of who to follow
