2/ Caregiving (whether paid or not!!!) is the backbone of our economy. It’s the work that makes ALL other work possible. Policies that value caregivers strengthen families, workplaces, and communities.

But as @dhuckelbridge.bsky.social told @chabeli.bsky.social, we need a national paid leave program to make sure that everyone in the country can take care of themselves and their loved ones: 19thnews.org/2026/03/paid...

We all depend on rail workers to keep goods moving safely across the country. But too many of them still lack #PaidSickDays or face penalties when they need time off for illness. The Healthy Families Act would protect rail workers—and workers in all industries. www.smart-union.org/railroaders-...
One-quarter of adults with a parent, spouse or partners over 65 are serving as caregivers. Women and lower-income adults are even more likely to be caregivers! #PaidLeave would help them manage caregiving and work while reducing financial stress. www.pewresearch.org/social-trend...
Paid leave reduces pay gaps, retirement gaps, savings and wealth gaps. It offers all working people the ability to work and care with more freedom, security, and dignity. #PaidLeaveForAll
News you can use: There is virtually no evidence of fraud of abuse by workers in state paid leave programs.
Paid leave does not hurt business. A federal paid leave program would reduce turnover and training costs. It would help employers and level the playing field for small businesses. It would increase performance and productivity. There is a proven, positive return on the investment. #PaidLeaveForAll
“No one should have to choose between paying their rent or taking care of their families… this is not the choice a wealthy country should be forcing its families to make. This is a moral and policy failure.” @repilhan.bsky.social at the House Committee on Education & Workforce hearing today
“Research suggests that fathers who take paternity leave have higher levels of life satisfaction, better health, better marriages and better relationships to their children.” Paid leave benefits whole families and communities. #PaidLeaveForAll

The last thing parents with newborns in the NICU should be worrying about is keeping their job and staying afloat during this time. Congress must act to support NICU families with extra FMLA leave. More from @abetterbalance.org: www.abetterbalance.org/leave-for-ni...

Today Rep. @delauro.house.gov and @sanders.senate.gov are reintroducing the #HealthyFamiliesAct, a bill which would ensure all employees have paid sick days—making workplaces safer and more equitable. It should be law.
The United States is one of the only countries in the world with no form of paid leave—including paid sick leave. As a result, more than 30 million Americans don’t have a single paid sick day. It is a public health disaster and an economic drain.

ICYMI, 79 percent of small business owners support a comprehensive federal paid leave program. It would level the playing field to help them compete with bigger employers, reduce turnover, and help them afford necessary leaves and transitions.
New on leave from Capitol Hill: the Flexible Leave Act, a new bipartisan bill that would update the FMLA to allow workers to take FMLA leave intermittently or on a reduced schedule. mcbride.house.gov/media/press-...
33 years ago today Clinton signed the FMLA. It has been used an estimated 566 million times (@npwf.bsky.social).
But it was meant to be a first step. There are policies to expand it and make #PaidLeaveForAll a reality in America. Cheers to those who started and stay in the fight.
DYK? Among sandwich generation caregivers caring for both a child and an adult 65 or older, 86% are employed and 72% are employed full-time. A national #PaidLeave program would provide financial support, time and peace of mind for caregivers. @ABetterBalance www.abetterbalance.org/resources/pa...
According to poll last week, 84% of Virginians support a law requiring Virginia to establish a paid family and medical leave program.
If women in Pennsylvania participated in the labor force at the same rate as women in countries with paid leave, there would be an estimated 119k additional workers in the state and $4.8 billion more wages earned annually. If PA passed paid leave, that would become real growth and real dollars.
The ice is melting faster than America’s excuses for not having paid leave.
Paid leave is bad for business ❌ debunked.
Paid leave hurts retention ❌ actually it helps.

Did you know that there's a paid leave bill ready to go in Pennsylvania? And in a message test, when people heard about it, their belief in state government jumps—they're more likely to believe their electeds are looking out for working people. The strongest effects were among moderates.
This is big. In a legislative and political landscape that is so bleak, this is something we can come to consensus on. It's something tangible we can do to help vulnerable families. Thank you to our partners @abetterbalance.org and lead sponsor @pettersen.house.gov.

What a contrast these days:
Our elected leaders can be a force for such good or such cruelty. They can take away food and health care and hurt their constituents. Or they can lift up communities, offer health and security, pass things like affordable care and paid leave. We fight for the latter.
Teachers shouldn't have to seek jobs across state lines just to have the protection of #PaidLeave. All teachers and workers across the country need #PaidLeaveForAll. www.nctq.org/research-ins...
