Saw a mockingbird today. π«Ά
Just finished a research project and celebrating with a cocktail. ππ½
I just saw what looked like a shooting star but we're not supposed to have any until next month. Not gonna lie that freaked me out.
I spent much of February watching films about complex women who were up against some personal battle. These were some of my faves:
Ms. 45 (1981)
Just Another Girl on the I.R.T. (1992)
Bob Trevino Likes It (2024)
If I Had Legs I'd Kick You (2025)
3 dead, 14 wounded. JFC.
My latest article for @tcmtv.bsky.social spotlights the National Film Registry, a few films from this year's list as well as a documentary on film preservation. www.tcm.com/articles/now... #filmsky
We're set for more snow with a deep freeze only to be followed by near 60 degree temps around the beginning of Daylight Saving. New England weather always keeps us on our toes.
Was reading about Netflix's plan to acquire Warner Bros.'s assets and now I see this news. Curious to see what Paramount's approach will be.

To those of you who have read and enjoyed any of my three books, the reason they wound up in your hands is that in 2004, Ann Godoff, the editing and publishing giant who founded Penguin Press, took a chance on me. She died yesterday at 76. I owe her more than I can say. She changed my life. >

It's a full on blizzard here right now. I've been out a few times but only for my dog and to feed the birds. My birds WILL NOT go hungry today.

I would truly love to read a diligent piece from a legal professional about who had what rights the night of the BAFTAs, and whether it is legally acceptable if someoneβs right to be there came at the expense of many othersβ right to not be subjected to potential trauma.
I'm glad I took a chance on it. I was ugly crying right along with Barbie Ferreira.
This was so lovely. One of the most wholesome and heartwarming movies I've watched in a while.

Ok, whilst I wait for NOUVELLE VAGUE, letβs discuss the ending of A BOUT DE SOUFFLΓ. I have seen 5 different versions over the years: a broadcast version on FilmFour, the UK Optimum DVD, the US Criterion DVD, the Studio Canal Bluray, and the version I have just seen projected, also from Canal.
I didn't realize there were so many translations of her line. I only remember disgusting and puke.
Bon dia!!

If you have Criterion Channel, make sure you watch the Michael Roemer collection. Roemer was an extraordinary filmmaker. Every time I watch one of his films I come away with more insight into humanity.
Todd Gross has a video about it: www.tiktok.com/@thetoddgros...

that's what I thought but apparently the way the storm is building and what they expect is similar to the blizzard of '78.
Alex Winter and I are kindred spirits it seems. www.youtube.com/watch?v=284i...
I'm so sick of snow and we're about to be walloped by another storm that people are comparing to the Blizzard of '78. UGH
