Photo of the point I was fishing. In the bottom part, my fishing rod and a pink float are visible. I used a drifting float about 40cm depth and a small weight. I was catching catfish, so I tried bottom gear before, but there are snags like tree branches and old cages down there. Californian red worms as bait!
Rhamdia quelen. Native. 33cm long catfish.
Another angle of the native catfish I hooked. Flash photo since night was creeping in. No action during the afternoon, this species probably becomes more active during the night.
Overall picture of the broader part of the river. Under the place this was taken, an old sewer pipe (now mostly not connected, with few houses actually discharging waste in the river - most of the city is connected to the water treatment plant nowadays). I didn't fish here because of the smell, but I have seen tilapia, plecos, carp, and wolf fish swimming down there. About 20 meters to the right is the spot I used. Other fauna present includes turtles, birds like cormorants and cranes, and native ducks. Squirrels can be seen in the tree line, and capybaras often use the place too (beware the capy poop).
Went fishing in the nearby urban polluted river some days ago, and after changing my techniques and using red californian worms... I caught 'em!! Big and fat Rhamdia quelen catfish!! Added to my fishdex!!

The thing that makes me happy here is that I fished this spot with fruit maggots, bread dough, tetra bait, bugs, industrial pellets, and went there about 4 times before and never had a bite. This time, with red worms, I managed to hook a 30cm-ish catfish and even catch a new species! Effort pays!!
Went fishing at the local creek today, this time using red californian worms.. I've never had a bite here, but I often see wolf fish, carp, tilapia on the surface. With the worms, I caught a new species for my fishdex - Rhamdia quelen!! (I lost a bigger one but the small one will do)

no actual reason besides basing it on living chimaera. Someone mentioned the eugenodontid fossils with multiple gill slits and I might fix it later, but it's for a banner so I didn't do much research over it...
