Column | How scammers are using AI deepfakes to steal money from taxpayers Last month, the Federal Trade Commission warned that it has seen a “big wave” of phone scams in which fraudsters claim to be from the IRS.

“Hello, this is Parker Ashland calling from the account review and compliance with the tax mediation and account support center... this center can review IRS payment options, abatement programs, or resolution solutions,” the message says.

Trump’s plan B to impose new tariffs is also illegal because a balance-of-payments deficit doesn’t exist, trade experts say "A balance of payments deficit is not the same thing as a trade deficit."

Fortune had a good piece on the weekend--explaining that the 122 tariffs are illegal, there is no balance of payments deficit (includes a link to a St. Louis fed explainer--that it is an accounting system)-unless we go back to the gold standard

The new Tariffs are just as unlawful as the old tariffs: The United States does not have a balance-of-payments deficit, much less a large and serious one.

Newsom: He’s a weak president — and that weakness is now on display globally. The only card he had left was these tariffs.

His entire economic policy has been mass deportations — and that’s beginning to unravel. His broader economic policies have obviously been aided and embedded in these tariffs
