The Sage of Water, Qia, derives her name from 'Myllokunmingia', one of the oldest vertebrates. The Sage of Lightning, Ardi, derives her name from 'Ardi', one of the earliest human-like specimens dating back 4.4 million years. The Sage of Wind, Raphica, derives his name from 'Archaeopteryx Lithographica', a late Jurrasic ancestor of birds.

The names of the ancient Sages from Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment are all derived from ancient subjects.
