It could be a tournament. It could be something that we have no word for.

Why omit the cooperation required for a group of people to work together, even if against another group?

Why does our culture always prioritise combative competition while ignoring our real strengths?

Australia can no longer be complacent about Trump’s America. It’s time to chart a new course This begins with an honest recognition of the changing direction of US policy, stated plainly and directly to the Australian people.

theconversation.com/australia-ca...

I think this article outlines first steps.

It’s past time for Australia to take its place on the world stage as more than a vassal.

It’s a shame that this time has fallen to a leader utterly unable to navigate it.

Is there any objective way for Australia to recognise the line in the sand where it stops being in our best interests to slavishly follow American foreign policy?

Or do we just follow out of habit, or nostalgia, or cowardice...?

We’re going to need a bigger boat. Jim Chalmers' tax reform fishing not seriousΒ  - Michael West Treasurer Chalmers is floating tax reform balloons ahead of the May budget, like CGT, but he’s fighting the last war. The next one is nuclear.

Rightly, Jim Chalmers floats negative gearing and CGT reform, but with what's coming it won't be enough to fix budget and housing. Good read

New data shows property investors buying almost twice as many homes as first-home buyers thanks to government tax breaks. Average property investor loan is ~ $100,000 larger than the average loan taken out by a first-home buyer, which guarantees investors a leg up at auctions.

Yep. It’s insane. Pretty much what I’ve come to expect from this government. They’ve got money for business and sport but not for people and communities.

This looks racist from where I’m sitting. It’s maddening.

Sign the Petition SA Government: Fund the Sewer Connection for Yitpi

The South Australian labor government is being as mean spirited as usual. Ready to drop 30 million for a two day car race but unable to provide a single cent to first nations inspired infrastructure.
This is ugly.

Give this one a sign.

So far today I’ve heard both Minns and Albanese blaming protesters for the violence by breaking the law.
Let’s talk about both of them breaking the law by supplying asylum to a wanted criminal and refusing to honour their commitments to the United Nations by arresting Herzog. That’s grounds for

Sweden’s experience with midwives providing abortion care offers lessons for other countries. Swedism midwives have long led care for healthy women during pregnancy and birth, with doctors supporting when complications arise. Applying the same model to abortion care is both logical and effective.

After being held in two of them as a boy, I fought for decades urging America to never again build concentration camps and put human beings in them. It breaks my heart to watch this happen twice now in my own lifetime.

Yep. We'll jail a 10 year old for stealing a Freddo frog, but a politician steals $50K from the public purse? They just pay it back and Bob's your uncle.

Are arts and non-profit institutions spending resources on grants and philanthropy any different from the unhoused person holding out a cup to passerbys?

Should that be an ok thing not only at an individual level but at an institutional level? Should this be considered a basic duty of government?
