“There are few voices stronger for working people in Virginia than Dan Helmer. He doesn’t just talk a big game - he has consistently delivered by standing with workers, creating world-class transit, and expanding opportunity across the Commonwealth,” explained President Raymond Jackson.
For our very first endorsement in the 2026 Congressional elections, we are beyond excited to announce our support for @helmerva.bsky.social
Local 689 stands in lockstep with @fairbudgetdc.bsky.social Together, we're fighting to ensure that DC residents get what they deserve - a racially just and equitable budget. #WeGotUsDC

A friend of the ATU, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr., was a champion of labor unions and a strong advocate for affordable public transit for all. From marching alongside Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to founding the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, www.nbcnews.com/news/obituar...
Attn all Transit Fans and Local 689! Join us for the Transit Social tomorrow at Atlas Brew Works to celebrate this year's #TranspoBINGO!
Last week, Transit Operations Supervisors and Field Supervisors won a NLRB stipulated agreement election to join ATU Local 689. Congratulations and welcome to the fold!
Today’s vote was a huge step in the right direction. We thank Councilmember @brianneknadeau.bsky.social for putting forward this vital piece of legislation to help transit workers stay in the city they love and serve!

Today Council will vote on my bill to ensure that @wmata.com has the staff it needs to keep our city running. The bill encourages residency and homeownership in DC by giving transit workers the same home down payment assistance DC government employees get. lims.dccouncil.gov/Legislation/...
Monday was the first day back to work for workers after they ratified a contract over the weekend. Congratulations Battle’s/RHG workers!
Huge congratulations to @atulocal689.bsky.social members! Holding the line through the holidays and coming out with a strong agreement is no small feat. This is worker power in action and a well-earned victory.
Local 689 wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Yesterday, DASH workers overwhelmingly approved a 1-year extension of their current contract. The ratified agreement included a strong wage increase, improvements to working conditions, and well positions the Union for the next round of negotiations. #ATU689FairContracts
Battle's / RHG Strike Day 19. Local 689 members will keep on fighting until workers get the fair contract that they deserve!
Workers are the backbone of DC, and they are powering our movement!
I'm honored to have the support of @atulocal689.bsky.social, @32bjseiu.bsky.social, @ufcw400.org, UNITE HERE Local 23, and UNITE HERE Local 25 — labor unions representing 53,000+ workers.
🚨 After 1 full week on strike, we are REOPENING our strike fund for donations! 🚨
It’s time for Battles and RHG to finally pay workers a fair contract and bargain in good faith.
Help us stay out as long as we need to WIN this strike: actionnetwork.org/fundraising/do…
Day 5 of the Battle's/RHG strike started off cold and windy, but that didn't deter us! We're standing up and fighting for a better contract! Workers are ready to be on the strike line as long as it takes.
On Day 1, Battle's/RHG workers showed the company that they were willing to fight back and stand together for a better contract. Thank you to everyone who stopped by including the International ATU top leadership @atucomms.bsky.social Councilmember Eric Olson, & DC Labor President Epps.
Our members treat their passengers with respect - it shouldn't be too much to ask for the company's owner and upper management to do the same.
Battle's and RHG workers are on the strike line fighting for a fair contract with better wages. So far the company refuses to offer wages above the rate of inflation!

Earlier today Battle's/RHG workers overwhelmingly voted to authorize a strike if necessary to win a fair contract. Workers demonstrated their resolve and that they will not back down from this fight!
For our final endorsement of the 2025 cycle, Local 689 is ecstatic to endorse @frankieforgreenbelt.org ! Frankie has been a true ally for labor, as a longtime organizer and Union staffer, and a strong supporter for world-class public transit.
Greenbelt family: vote for Frankie Fritz this Tuesday!
Proud to share that we have been endorsed by @atulocal689.bsky.social. Grateful to receive their support and excited to keep fighting for transit and working people throughout Virginia.

.@atulocal689.bsky.social members move our region as bus and train operators, mechanics, station managers, and more.
Their labor makes it possible for people to go to work, get back home after a long day, or travel across the region for fun.
Local 689 wants to thank @brianneknadeau.bsky.social for her leadership and service. For her entire tenure on the Council, she has been a stalwart champion of a government that works for working people and for transit that reaches even DC’s forgotten communities.
Thank you so very much, CM Nadeau.
We are beyond proud to endorse Aparna Raj for Ward 1!
Aparna has stood with us on picket lines and at rallies, and knows personally what it means to build power for working people as a Union member herself.
We know that she will have our backs on Council and we are excited to have hers now.
