A small tree with potted flowers at its base and a floral heart hanging from a branch with a sign reading βMrs Aliverti, always in our hearts.β
Flowers in front of Bryant Elementary in remembrance of their librarian who was killed walking in the crosswalk at Sand Point Way & Princeton Ave NE by a speeding driver in August. Preventable deaths like hers can deeply impact a community. Thankful today for everyone fighting for safer streets.

All it would take is removing the center turn lane in most areas. Parking was already removed or reduced to make space for that center turn lane.

And, to be clear, parking was still removed. Instead of bike lanes we now have a middle of the road turning lane. The space is there for bike lanes if the center turn lane is removed. Parking is already reduced or gone.

A thread today from #yimbytown conference. Walkability comes from both land use and transportation policy. Adding housing to walkable neighborhoods lets more people enjoy walkability, as does making streets better.

Biked by Mioposto at 35th Ave NE & NE 55th St this morning! When the person crashed their car into it last night, people were eating outside. Even the people eating inside had to flee to avoid the car. Apparently, this isnβt the first time.

Basically what the post says. This example is from Nice. Photo by me, as always.
Anyone wanting to increase tree canopy in their city should consider adding bike lanes protected by heavily forested buffers.

Happy 50th Anniversary of Ravenna Park bridge being pedestrianized! Itβs a useful walking and biking connection, but itβs also a beautiful view over the tree canopy. With apologies to the Overlook Walk, itβs still my favorite pedestrian bridge in Seattle.
