Just Watched ๐Ÿ“ฝ๏ธ: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (2010)
I absolutely love the style of this. Lots of visual gags. Excellent VFX. Use of music is great. Editing and pacing of jokes and dialog is great. Edgar Wright nailed this one.

Worth a watch: For sure!

Just Watched ๐Ÿ“ฝ๏ธ: Mercury Rising (1998)
Ok action thriller. FBI agent has to protect an autistic child who cracked a new code from rogue gov agents. Along the lines of Enemy of the State. Effects haven't aged well but do the job. Action is ok.

Worth a watch: yeah, if you are bored

Just Watched ๐Ÿ“ฝ๏ธ: A Million Miles Away (2023)
A bit slow. Good inspiring story about hard work and perseverance. Truth be told I didnโ€™t enjoy this movie as much as I wanted because the characters journey felt like a bit of a slog, well portrayed.

Worth a watch: yeah

Just Watched ๐Ÿ“ฝ๏ธ: Chef (2014)
Full of style and energy. Great music. Uplifting story about a chef finding his love of the craft again. Definitely feels like a passion project from Favreau. Some great cameos. I had loads of fun watching this.

Worth a watch: hell yeah

Yeah I quite liked the spin that the cross pollination of histories and cultures was by John. Really helped put you in the same mindset of the others hearing the story "no, but.... What if?"

Just Watched ๐Ÿ“ฝ๏ธ: The Man From Earth (2007)
Acting, dialogue and pacing is very "TV movie". 5 mins in I didn't think I'd get through it. The rest went quickly. Ended up being an engaging campfire story/thought experiment. It all takes place in a single room.

Worth a watch: yeah

Just Watched ๐ŸŽฌ: Asteroid City (2023)
Interesting, funny but odd. I audibly said "wtf am I watching" at one point. Fantastic sets, camera work, minatures and transitions. Felt like I needed a YT breakdown to fully appreciate it.

Worth a watch: it's not for everyone. I enjoyed it.

Just Watched ๐ŸŽฌ: Premium Rush (2012)
A high energy cat and mouse game between a bike courier and a corrupt cop trying to intercept the package. The bike chases through NY traffic are loads of fun. End showdown is a bit cringey. Stay for the BTS in the credits.

Worth a watch: Yes.

Movie: Lockout
Budget action sci fi. Guy Pearce plays a fun over the top role as a smart ass rules-don't-apply-to-me agent. Most of the CGI is good enough to sell the story. The first car chase scene looks like a bad game cutscene.

Worth a watch: yes if you are into mindless action flicks.

Movie: Izzy Gets The Fuck Across Town
Cool movie. Lots of laugh out loud parts. First 2/3rds has strong indie vibes that reminds me heavily of Clerks.

Worth a watch: Yes.
