I suggest watching the first episode and if you can handle that you can handle the whole thing. I dislike gore, but the characters and stories are so compelling that I'm willing to watch while sitting sideways on the couch so it's easier to look away at the gross stuff 😅

No one gets amputated on screen. People come in with parts that are already amputated or barely hanging on, but we don't see the actual amputation.

I spend most of the medical parts of the show with my hands over my eyes or looking away. And don't watch while eating. But otherwise I'm fine.

With Forefly, the veey IP itself, the whole foundation on which the show was built, was so problematic even back then. And if you bring back the cast, you have to do the original unless you OOC them all. It just won't work. It's straight IP. As you said: boring.

I will say that I'm pretty excited for the Buffy and X-Files reboots, but only because they feel like an "if we have to do IP, let's do it real interesting and give it to exciting showrunners." Both had killer premises, too, which Firefly doesn't

I'm rewayching Angel and Buffy rn and shit hits different at 42 for the 4th time than at 14 for the first time, but overall both are still good shows. Sometimes problematic (usually anything Joss related), but not toxic. Same is not true of Firefly.
