I suggest watching the first episode and if you can handle that you can handle the whole thing. I dislike gore, but the characters and stories are so compelling that I'm willing to watch while sitting sideways on the couch so it's easier to look away at the gross stuff πŸ˜…

No one gets amputated on screen. People come in with parts that are already amputated or barely hanging on, but we don't see the actual amputation.

I spend most of the medical parts of the show with my hands over my eyes or looking away. And don't watch while eating. But otherwise I'm fine.

But I'm gonna cheat and do a second: Metal from Heaven by HA Clarke. That book FUCKED ME UP (complimentary).

The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones. That book cracked my mind wide open.

Shahab Moradi, said Iran would struggle to hit back against the US by striking a parallel figure to Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani because the US has only "fictional" heroes.

"Think about it. Are we supposed to take out Spiderman and SpongeBob?"

'The Pitt's Most Intense Med Student Breakdown Has a Much Deeper Hidden Meaning Shabana Azeez discusses the deeper meaning behind Javadi's breakdown in The Pitt Season 2, and how it reflects the pressures faced by med students.

I also spoke with Shabana Azeez about Javadi’s patient mistake in this week’s episode of #ThePitt and why it mirrors the real-life pressures med students are facing every day:

Israel is bombarding, literally bombarding, two Middle East capitals, Beirut and Tehran, killing 100s of civilians, and yet the US and UK media continue to portray Iran as the threat to the region.

Israel has nukes, but Iran is the nuclear threat.

We live in Orwellian times.

Marsupials previously thought extinct for millennia discovered in New Guinea The chances of finding one mammal species thought to be lost was β€˜almost zero’ and finding two is β€˜unprecedented’, biologist Tim Flannery says

"Two charismatic marsupial species that had been thought extinct for 6,000 years are alive in rainforest in remote West Papua."

Oh yeah this is super cool as both the pygmy long-fingered possum and ring-tailed glider were previously only known from fossils 🀯πŸ§ͺπŸ€

we also beat these games via folklore, and dubiously reliable playground word of mouth. there was a lot of lying and myth-making. friends would come sit around the computer with you after school and mash in guesses. very few of us ever beat them β€œwithout help”.

adventure games from the 80s were intentionally designed to be tricky, mean and occasionally counterintuitive so that you could get stuck for long periods of time. this was called β€œvalue for your dollar”

Importantly they are planning to hire these people on 2 year contracts so what actually happened is they fired everyone so they could rehire them with worse working conditions and an easy revolving door with industry 🫩 πŸ”

It’s so weird that not so long ago, like, less than 20 years, the progressive feminist position was gender de-segregation in sport and other male dominated spaces. Then the terfs came along and convinced the mainstream that the most progressive feminist position is that women are weak and feeble.

The US never ever gets to describe itself as the hero that it imagines itself to be: you are exactly the evil empire your films imagine others to be

With Forefly, the veey IP itself, the whole foundation on which the show was built, was so problematic even back then. And if you bring back the cast, you have to do the original unless you OOC them all. It just won't work. It's straight IP. As you said: boring.

I will say that I'm pretty excited for the Buffy and X-Files reboots, but only because they feel like an "if we have to do IP, let's do it real interesting and give it to exciting showrunners." Both had killer premises, too, which Firefly doesn't

There is absolutely zero explanation for hitting targets like this unless your objective is to destroy any possibility of normal life and produce mass civilian death. Completely unjustifiable and another war crime. We saw this thirty years ago in Iraq.

Gee, it sure would have been nice if Marvel hadn’t cancelled this excellent queer comic 5-10 issues before it was scheduled to wrap up with almost no warning, preventing the creative team from finishing their story as planned. And now it’s winning them awards.

That show, man. I never even finished it. Forced myself through S1 and gave up. It was just too creepy for me.

I'm rewayching Angel and Buffy rn and shit hits different at 42 for the 4th time than at 14 for the first time, but overall both are still good shows. Sometimes problematic (usually anything Joss related), but not toxic. Same is not true of Firefly.
