Global press freedom measures that rank India below many African autocracies can feel incongruous. But the state is making it ever harder for journalists to scrutinise the rich and powerful

The Democrats who made it to the next round.

And I want to be super duper explicit about this, the moment Maine Democrats nominate Graham Platner, a guy with a Totenkopf tattoo, for U.S. Senate, there will no longer be any moral high ground for any Democrat to criticize any Republican who openly displays Nazi symbols and use Nazi rhetoric
#LongCovid folks, if anyone has an extra 1-3 metrix tests youβd be willing to sell me + send in the mail this weekend, youβd be doing me a big favor

"Sid Miller, the Texas agriculture commissioner since 2015, has been beset by serial scandals, including allegations that he has misused public funds, and that he instructed a friend to dispose of marijuana, possession of which still allows for serious criminal charges in the state, in order to evade the Drug Enforcement Administration. He faces a challenge from Nate Sheets, a wealthy ranch owner who used to be a donor to his campaigns." "Sheets win"

NATIONAL DAY of ACTION VIRTUAL ONLINE SATURDAY, MARCH 7TH, 12:00PM - 3:00PM
We're hosting a virtual rally for those who are not able to attend a March 7th National Day of Action event in person. We don't think structural barriers should prevent anyone from being able to participate in a movement that directly impacts their lives.

Tulips at the Dallas Arboretum
Dallas Blooms at the Arboretum
Before we get another round of rain, I made it back to the Dallas Arboretum. The daffodils and hyacinths are at peak bloom. Tulips are at ninety percent bloom. Definitely needed this.
New today @thebarbedwire.com: βTrans voters are left vulnerable to being outed, questioned, or turned away, which creates very real barriers to casting a ballot ... This fear & confusion has a purpose in trying to silence our voices & keep trans people from participating fully in our democracy.β
A vintage black-and-white engraved portrait of Victorian poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning, shown in a three-quarter view seated in an upholstered armchair. She is a woman in her thirties or forties with large expressive dark eyes and a gentle, introspective expression as she gazes directly at the viewer. Her dark hair falls in soft, full ringlets around her face and over her shoulders, parted in the middle with a small decorative hair accessory visible. She wears a dark, long-sleeved Victorian dress with a fitted bodice buttoned down the front, wide puffed sleeves, a white lace collar and cuffs, and a voluminous skirt. In her lap rests some papers, which she holds with her left hand; her right hand holds a quill pen. Behind her is a softly rendered background with foliage and rose bushes, evoking a serene indoor or garden-like setting. The overall style is a detailed 19th-century steel engraving or lithograph, with fine shading and cross-hatching to create depth and texture.
Elizabeth Barrett Browning, one of the Victorian era's most celebrated English poets, was renowned for her lyrical, passionate & intellectually rich work.
She expanded what women could write about and how seriously they were taken. She was born #OTD in 1806. #WomensHistoryMonth #poetry #literature
Some will tell you primaries donβt matter, what we see in March doesnβt translate into November. They are wrong.

We were imaging to "save the planet" but our military contracts won
A photo of a large cumulonimbus cloud over a flat, grassy landscape during sunset. The cloud displays vibrant shades of orange and yellow illuminated by sunlight, contrasting with darker gray clouds below and a blue sky above. Zooming in above the towering storm, you'll see a planet flying from left to right.
Yesterday's storm chase along the TX/OK border didn't play out as I had hoped, but that's not too surprising for early season setups. Still, there's almost always at least a bit of a consolation prize. This struggling storm painted by the setting Sun was yesterday's. #Photography
