What’s funny is that Trump still doesn’t get it. Yes, Noem was/is an absolutely horrendous human being. But the ICE campaign isn’t unpopular because of Kristi Noem. It’s unpopular because of all of the murdering civilians, pepperspraying clergy, and extrajudicial kidnapping. 

The War Powers Act is fairly pointless when Congress is like “Nah… we good.”

Regarding a potential draft: I’m not saying that Baron Trump is the result of an in vitro HGH experiment gone horribly awry, but I’m not NOT saying it either.

By all accounts, Khamenei sucked. But the U.S. and Israel just *deciding* that we are going to bomb the shit out of a country and kill its leader is very, very bad. That’s some evil empire shit, and I genuinely don’t know why people don’t seem to understand this.

Okay, so Khamenei is dead. Cool, cool… we still don’t know why we went to war.

We can solve two problems at once here: We can get rid of the tens of thousands of ICE agents by incarcerating them, thereby also finding a use for the massive detention facilities we just built! Win-Win, y’all!

It’s weird because, just this past year, we had no problem finding the stomach-energy needed to fire tens of thousands of government workers who had dedicated their lives to actually HELPING people. 🤔

I appreciate your thoughtfulness (both of you), and apologize for my own thoughtlessness. It wasn’t my intention to suggest that we (I) aren’t responsible to own the damage our own participation causes, but intent doesn’t really matter. It’s clear that was how my comments read, and I’ll do better.

I actually agree with you. I’m sorry that it came across otherwise. I actually had to change my own behavior around this because I was contributing to the problem. I was trying to say (in too many words) that I think we all need to change, but it’s not enough.

I mean, we definitely need to not signal our approval through eager consumption, but just like we can’t individually solve climate change by addressing our personal carbon footprint, we need industry-wide government regulation to really address the problem.

I think you’re right, of course. I also worry about once again putting the onus on individuals to adapt behavior, and placing the responsibility of harm on personal actions rather than systemic or corporate accountability.

That this is something they would do is disturbing. The fact that they so clearly *wanted* us to know what they had done should frightened us more.

The Columbia thing is quite literally a flex. It’s not that they were willing to create an elaborate scheme because they were so deeply committed to detaining Elmina Aghayeva (or any one particular student). They wanted to show us what they were both willing and able to do.

I don’t know why Trump thinks a longer SOTU is a good idea, but it does remind me of how porn-addled college-age guys think making their partner sit through two hours of a crude jackhammering performance somehow makes them virile and more manly.
