Ooh I saw the Fallen Women do their Fall karaoke thing, it was excellent. Fun!
Ha ha brilliant.
Yeah I haven't done it for years and I wasn't very good when I did. It's quite complicated. π
Yes, I think so.
Ha ha right? Bobbin lace is mad.
I'm reading the Reacher novels. I started in 2022 and it all seemed fine, but every single one I've read in the last year-ish has made me go 'ah yes. Serious people doing serious things seriously and effectively. In America! Seems unlikely!'
Why not pick up a copy of #KneadtoKnow for #BritishPieWeek!?
Within its pages, you'll find out about everyday pies & pasties & also wondrous & ridiculous ones like Yorkshire Christmas Pyes & the Denby Dale Pie.

A picture I borrowed from Pinterest of a lace pillow with a piece of partly-worked lace on it and dozens of spangled Midlands bobbins.
I'm editing a cookbook and cookbook editing is always very complicated in a satisfying way and it kind of reminds me of making bobbin lace.
White text on a blue background. The text reads - "this stoneware jar is part of the Royal London Hospital object collection. The jar was used to store leeches. It has a lid that locks by twisting the metal clasp. It has holes so that the leeches could breathe but not escape. In 1837 Barts bought 96,000 leeches for use in the hospital. Leeches were still in use at Barts up until the 1930s. They are still used in micro surgery and plastic surgery to help restore blood flow." On this week's episode we looked at the dispensary accounts for the hospital which showed the purchase of leeches. Here you can see an example from our collections of a pot used to store leeches πͺ±πͺ±

What would your name be if you were named after two uncles? Iβd be Rodneygeorge. Or Georgedavid.
Happy birthday to Betty Boo. Here's a reminder of the time she rapped with Public Enemy in the McDonalds at Shepherd's Bush back in 1987 (look out for the unimpressed manager!)
I'm sorry Alex, this is very sad. I know she had an amazing life with you guys. π
My friend Leigh was absolutely devastated when they changed the recipe for Rola Cola c. 1994
A screenshot from my email inbox. An email from Hotpoint. It says Jackie could you manage without cooker?
Me without cooker? Thatβs unpossible!
I went to one as βthe British Islesβ once which was just two sheet maps (my dadβs a cartographer) glued to an old duvet cover. (I was 12, it was school-related, I did not want to βjoin inβ at all.)

Has she been busy doing carpentry with that tiny saw??
I really liked UA but that was the last one that felt 'right' to me. The last two books feel awkward and strangely formal compared to all the others, Raising Steam especially (the only one I've never re-read). I assume this is to do with them being dictated and Pratchett not being able to edit them
God, she must go through so many knife blades!
Iβve tried paper cutting and itβs difficult, it takes a steady hand, a meticulous approach and real skill.
