seriously, though Dr Dave, it's impressive and I hope mine ends as nice as I tackle the mess.
Just missed ya! (June '25, same neighborhood)
intriguing title...
I look forward to reading your works.
oh! how this thread made me chuckle! π
male Nutthall's Woodpecker (Dryobates nuttallii) - bird with black tail, white and black bands across its back, black and white around its eyes and a red cap, hanging under sycamore branch picking insects etc. view of bird is largely obscured from the viewer by sycamore twigs, branches and dried, brown leaves. The sky in the background, thru the tree, is vibrant blue and cloudless. Really, this is the best shot I could get for 2 hours of watching this bird flit frenetically among a mini-"forest" of mixed-species suburban trees. I could hear him calling as he moved between all the trees in the neighborhood and then back to my dozen or so. He is pretty though, per the short, clear glimpses I stole. I will try again tomorrow
orange pink, or pinkish orange? flowers hanging, inverted, on a pinkish-grey flower spike from a succulent (species etc not known). unfocused background is green leaves from small specimen of giant bird-of-paradise plant (Strelitzia nicolai), backed by a clay pot and light grey wall on the right

I watched, ready, 2 hrs. This bird flew off, hid, everytime I lifted my phone cam. It's time for the Nuttall's Woodpecker (Dryobates nuttallii) visits. I managed to get an obstructed pic in sycamore today. As a consolation, I took one of my blooming succulent, jic the bird continued hidden
I remember this street as part of a surprisingly nice morning walk. Steeling myself for the solstice swim some Dark Mofo (hopefully still held by the time we can return π). ty, Glynis, for the happy reminder of a special place and time
thanks for putting this on my radar ChrisP.
She was a guest author/lecturer for a semester at uni, back-in-the-day, and presented LHoD (among others). I remember LHoD as unexpectedly (to me) awesome & layered. It left a def impression that led me to re-examine her stories I'd read as a child (I was a voracious reader). worth it
I will heed this warning, thank you. π
Once in awhile- July thru Sept, I think - you can see the blue whales in SB channel. (in case you haven't caught it yet).
well, now you have me questioning my Jag goals π
I waved up the hill at ya, both north and southbound , on my way through recently (thinking about these view-pics). ππ
oh! Great idea! We happen to have an old, non-working, up-right piano... (better than the land-fill). Thanks for that.
I love the composition in this photo. thank you

low angle sunset reflected off the bottom of clouds with silhouettes of a stand of eucalyptus across the bottom of the photo
#Tasmania sunsets. Cracker, indeed.
add me to those thankful for the link.
lol, all too frequently π. you'd think I'd learn to just call them first before the "emergency"
I called the plumber when that happened to me. Thankfully, we have a really good, reasonably priced plumber responsive to my self-imposed "plumbing emergencies" π€£
happy happy to you and Riley in this season, stink stank stunk notwithstanding. ππβοΈ

I like the lighting on this pic. makes me feel like I should really get up early to see the marsh waking up and that it'll greet me, warmly (psych!). Thanks for the capture, and happy holidays, Michael R
happy season to you, Marianne. I enjoy your hike pics
when it rains, my duck stomps her feet on the ground to "call the worms" to the surface. first time I saw her do it I had to look around to make sure I hadn't transfered to some dune planet ...πͺ±π«£π¬π
Happy Holidays Glen. Great GIF!

Thank you for sharing your farm and island here. Touches big nostalgia.
