Coral background with faint heart illustrations. A glossy male Blackbird with a bright yellow bill faces left. Large title reads: βBirds as bad exes*β Smaller text reads: β*Yes, you read that right.β
Happy Valentineβs Day, from us to you. Tag your exes. Xoxox
Iβve signed up for this, looking forward to developing my id skills after just finishing a wildflower id course
Hen Harriers and other birds of prey are still being killed illegally.
Enough is enough.
Join us and call on the UK Government to license gamebird shooting and help protect these incredible birds before itβs too late. π

I feel like a π in a big podcast pond but here I am, probably the only podcast in the π about a river, the River Severn/Hafren/Sabrina UK. Expect archaeology, social & maritime history, myth & folklore, goddess worship, rights of Rivers, ecology & wildlife, music, Morris dancing, art, pubs & more
Looking at its own reflection?
Thatβs good, have a great 2026!
Hope itβs nothing serious
The image shows a small, rounded, purple glass vessel in the shape of a pomegranate fruit displayed against a light grey background. The display lighting enhances the translucent purple glass which replicates the colour of a ripe fruit. There is some encrustation dotted around the body of the vessel and around the calyx which has one lobe missing. Height 6.9 cm (2.7 in), Diameter 6.6 cm (2.5 in). Probably used as a container for perfumed oil.
For New Yearβs Day 2026, a hellenistic glass vase shaped like a pomegranate. 2nd century BC - 1st century AD.
A symbol of abundance and good luck for the year ahead!

On the track leading up to the magnificent Roman Catholic chapel at Biddlestone in Northumberland are some medieval remains that might explain how this remote village got its name.

I get so many spam calls I donβt even answer if the caller is unknown. I send them direct to answer phone. I decided it is best not to engage at all with any unknown caller I read there is some sort of scam involving recording your voice although no idea what.
Keep rewriting and improving β¦ much easier to know how to improve something that to start from a blank page. Make it more concise and refine. Finally read it out loud to check its written as well as possible
As a former MA student who found writing an enormous struggle β¦ start with a plan β¦ write as badly as required to actually write at all. Ie in note form, no grammar, no punctuation, full of quotations clearly marked with references. Then rewrite. And rewrite. Revise plan as ideas reform.
Walking in paces ?
While doing my family history I found a report of my great, great grandfather appearing in a court case regarding a right of way. My relative gave evidence in Cymraeg, a translator translated for the court, then my relative corrected the translation (in English) causing much amusement in the court.
The book speaks π: 'If you know how to read me, treat me well; however if you don't know how to read me, hand me to a learned person.'

Also had a neighbour whose house was up for sale over and over. Speaking to a mutual friend she said the ex wife couldnβt understand how it didnβt sell. But Iβd seen βsold signsβ up repeatedlyβ¦ the bloke had kept pulling out and changing agents. Wife was living elsewhere & didnβt know!
There needs to be a better system, youβre sure there isnβt some kind of dodgy business with your ex? My purchase was from someone in a divorce process β¦ I suspect the whole thing might have been an exercise in him ultimately keeping the house having told his wife he *failed* to sell it. It was odd
Iβm sorry β¦ it needs reform to the process.
I had similar in lockdown where the seller changed his mind at the very last minute. It was devastating β¦ I was homeless at the time due to divorce also it cost me 1000s in fees and in house prices going up too.
Things are fine now, different but fine! Gardening is so therapeuticfor me too. I do hope life gets back to normal for you both soon and you can look back at it as just one of those little blips that happen xxx
In the interim I did something completely different (botanical illustration). For me shelving things helped anyway xxx
I had a major life upheaval and had to stop taking photographs for a few years as all I could see in the ones I did take was bleakness and devastation. Its taken me a few years to come out of it tbh, longer than it took me to get my life sorted! But I feel like all the meaning of it is renewed now

Watercolour. Mountain ridge under snow.
Mainly mountains. Mainly monochrome.
I had similar reactions from cats, foxes, muntjac and badgers when i put one in my old garden. Squirrels didnβt seem bothered though!
Just made me recollect my ex after i discovered his l/t affair!
βIt was the beginning of a bizarre exchange β¦ in which chatbots try to negotiate their way out of trouble, deflect attention from their mistakes and contradict themselvesβ
