Active and public transport complement each other. "We need transit, not bike lanes!" is wrecker shit. We need both.

I over-simplified: it's not just rent being controlled, but various renters rights coming in. I don't know if all the small landlords are also evicting tenants and selling up, they might be, but it's not as obvious because of the numbers currently involved. I'd much rather see more social housing.

Like the large soulless corporations currently evicting huge swathes of Londoners before new rent controls come in?

And of *course* this idea is illustrated with AI slop...

Oh boy! What a headline...

Ask yourself:

"What am I being asked to believe?"

"Who am I being told to blame?"

Take a few seconds to imagine what the Daily Mail (And Telegraph, GB News and Express) WANT you to think is going on.

Let's see what's ACTUALLY happening...🧡

You can totally see *why* people get VPNs and pretend to be in Australia when the choice for watching Strade Bianche here is 5 minutes "highlights" (actually just the finish) on YouTube or paying 35 quid for a month of TNT coverage. (YouTube for us).

CW: CSA mentioned, bad moderator behavior.

Okay, so.

I had a book come out yesterday (BUTTERFLY EFFECTS, available now from a bookstore near you), and as is often the case, I went out last night to promote it. Bookstore event, whee.

Home - Not in our name Not In our Name: Women in support of the trans+community

More than 91,900 women have already signed to say that trans exclusion is not in our name.

We’re now aiming for 100,000 signatures, and it would be incredible to reach that mark by tonight with the help of everyone at the Trans Mission Live concert and everyone following along from home.

An archaeological trench showing various gullys and ditches. Some of these contain runs of short orange ceramic water pipes that fit together not unlike lego to create continuous lengths of pipe.

We're sure all you can think about today is that it's World Plumbing Day. πŸ‘¨β€πŸ”§πŸ’¦

So here's the Palace plumbing - ceramic pipes that carried water around the formal gardens and fed fountains and ornamental basins and the like.

Labour. Blood on their hands

Labour. Blood on their hands

I’m a wife, a daughter, a sister and a confidante.

I'm an academic, a teacher, a polyglot and a traveller who produces research and talks too much.

I do no harm to honest, authentic, kind people. I just want to live my life in peace.

But Labour want me exterminated because I happen to be trans.

Now I'm wondering about trying to make a plugin which displays screenshots automatically in the dark/light mode of the reader.

My screenshots are all light-mode not dark-mode.

Cheaper commuting: the best ways to save on the costs of your travel to work From railcards to route tweaks, here’s how to stop your daily train or car journey breaking the bank

Bizarrely not one mention of cycling to work.

You can even get a tax break to do it.

At the moment with something non-infectious (frozen shoulder) it's really hard working out at what point I'm feeling rubbish enough to just call it a day early and go lie down though!Hoping to get nerve-block steroid injection at GP, but won't be until the 26th, can't really just *stop* for 2 weeks.

(Technically it's an academic rather than corporate environment- but I usually do two days in the office and two remote anyway)

If I'm sick enough not to go out with Cate: no work.

If I'm borderline: sometimes one way sometimes the other.

If I'm just a bit bleurgh and full of germs but can think OK I do work from home. We try to encourage people not to bring germs into the office.

Matthew (nearly 13) is gradually coming to terms with the fact that a 1 in 5 chance doesn't mean you're going to get exactly two of them if you roll 10 times. It's still frustrating if you're unlucky!

I just buy everything in purple. Or black. Or sometimes red. And I've got a couple of nice blues. And pink is basically a shade of purple right? And who could resist rainbow dinosaurs? But mostly purple.
