By the time Soviet forces arrived, the SS had already begun evacuating the camp.

In 1935, a pro-Nazi magazine ran a contest for the “Ideal Aryan Baby” and unknowingly chose a Jewish infant: Hessy Levinsons Taft.
Hessy’s parents were beyond shocked; they were terrified. They later learned that the photographer entered her portrait as a hoax, without their knowledge.
