Why Your Design System Can't Feel Anything We've tokenised colour, typography, spacing and motion β€” but completely ignored touch. It's time to treat haptics as a first-class design token.

New article for your augen.

I've been messing with haptic tokens and the new haptic library by Lochie Axon.

Let me know if the demo works on your phones!

(Extra points if you got the reference in the opengraph image)

I think putting LLMs into chatbots primarily is one of the single worst places to put them.

It gives them the illusion of comprehension and prevents them from truly being just tools.

There are better places to use an LLM and it’s not your buddy.

A black 3D printed scoop

I just vibe-coded a scoop. Big scoop beware! The robots are coming for you.

My normal dog’s food scoop needs 3x scoops so I got Claude to create a parameterises open scad design for 3D printing.

Result: 3x the scooping efficiency!!!

I'm so back with Design Systems. Sorry about being away for the last 6 months -- I had a career midlife crisis.

Haha I wrote a fair few of them. The weirdest one which was in Delphi was a Lexx fan game (obscure sci-fi show)

Just recovered from the flu but anyone remember QBasic or TurboPascal from the 1990s? I was doing a spot of Laravel today and I missed it so I decided to make a TurboPascal style IDE for PHP. Why? Why not!

Probably still got a fever or something.

Has anyone noticed that red eye in photos is much less common now?

I wonder how many other things we’ve just forgotten about because they’re not a problem any more

I totally agree with that LLMs shouldn't write the entirety of the docs but they can most certainly be used as assistive tools or tone translators. E.g you can have a style or voice that a participant learns better with and a toggle to transform it into that.

A friendly cyberman in a comic book style that just wants to live amongst us. Honest.

I've been thinking about what it means to be alive recently. One of the key aspects of being alive is the will to continue that existence at all costs.

Apparently AI now shares that desire too. I've written a piece for Drutek to go into my thoughts on this given the latest barrage of research it.

Hello everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Now, this week I'm sitting down with Ben Callahan on his show, The Question.

We're going to be talking about....you guessed it... AI! πŸ€–

The question is:
"How are you feeling about your future in design systems given the current state of AI?"

Not gonna lie I’m gutted about what has happened in Liverpool. A great deal of friends and family were there but fortunately all safe.

Feeling both sadness and anger but as I know Liverpool well they’ll pull together for this.
