A friend of mine has that headline on a t-shirt. He's not an insufferable neckbeard like the "author" of that article, but he REALLY fucking loves the Muppets so it works.

Also, iPads and smartphones are computers.
7 apartment / condo buildings that have opened over the past ~6mo in North Park / UH. 433 homes in total. Welcome, new neighbors.
That it's *so many* people's lifelines, and much of the Baby Boom generation will soon age out of driving, means we're in for a rough couple decades. Either we choose safety and a lot of seniors lose their independence or we choose independence and a lot of people die. There's no good solution.
D&D is a mainstream hobby now. It just took awhile.
Low bar, but you cleared it.
Spend some time on Nextdoor or watching public comment, seriously. It's never just been "my backyard". It's "my neighbor's backyard", or "a backyard somewhere in my neighborhood or city", or something even farther out. It's always been an attempt to control what happens to property they don't own.
This is the sort of image that NIMBYs would use to try to scare other NIMBYs - those 6 story towers are stealing light and looming over those unfortunate (and more virtuous) single family homes - but it looks fine for the most part. Agree with the other commenter it'd be better with shared walls.
Just wanted to thank you for this breakdown. If (fingers crossed) Newsom signs SB 79, there's going to be several rounds of debate regarding whether specific stops should be included. The criteria are hard to parse.
I like this. It's "discuss your salary with your coworkers and peers", but for housing. The only ones losing out are employers and landlords, respectively.
Danny DeVito, as Frank Reynolds from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, with no egg in his hand, saying "Trump take egg"
My important contribution to the discourse.
Aaaaaah I love shit like this. There's so much potential for farming and green energy production to coexist side by side.
I don't know, that sounds a bit woke. Depending on how they train the AI, you could be looking at a pink slip.
The loss of cubicles and move to open office spaces is certainly one of the things that's kept me away from in-person office work since COVID forced us all home.
This is the biggest issue. A few restaurants around here tried going to "tip is included/we pay our employees fairly" pricing and people are SO BAD AT MATH that these restaurants had to give up and go back to tips.
Same thing in reverse is places adding surcharges instead of raising prices.
Congrats to all the trans women out there who just got validated. Sorry to the men, trans and otherwise. Guess we're all ladies now. As are Elon and Donald.
Those prices would shock a Parisian. Small pastries were €0.8-2 and loaves of bread were maybe €2-3 when I was there this summer, and that was in the center of Paris. Could have been cheaper elsewhere. At my local French bakery in San Diego, it's $5 for pastries, and bread is $7-10. So yeah 😕
That "time spent at home" chart is just work-from-home, isn't it? Restaurants, bars, and other public spaces are just as packed as they ever were. But there's just a huge Swath of the country that doesn't need to drive to an office anymore.
On Samsung phones, you can search for "Assistant App" in settings and turn off "Assistant app" and "Circle to Search".
Baltimore *is* near DC. It's not like San Diego / LA - you can plausibly work in one and live in the other (although in my case doing so radicalized me to become an insufferable urbanist, in large part due to congestion).
12000+ square feet, 16BR, and 24BA is the headline, but the real lede is OVER ONE SQUARE MILE OF PROPERTY. Insane amounts of land.
With the exception of Omar, who's been in Minnesota since her teens but was born in Somalia, the people he mentioned in that tweet are native to their respective regions. Completely asinine.
A frame from an ad for a crypto currency called Meme Kombat. It shows a SpongeBob meme, a Pepe, and a dude I don't recognize reaching for something. Like, I don't even know man.
I got an ad on that page for a currency called Meme Kombat. Bluesky doesn't do gifs yet, so I can only upload the first frame. Needless to say, I didn't feel like it'd be a sound investment.
Google Maps suggested routes for a 5-6 mile ride from the San Diego Airport at 12:30am. The fastest route would get me there in about four and a half hours, versus a 14 minute cab ride.
San Diego doesn't need to spend billions of dollars to improve airport service, just run the 992 late enough for all arriving planes. Had no choice but pay $40 for a Lyft.
It's cool, it's not like there's a lot of people in that area with still developing brains.
Hell, ignoring what insurance covers, the largest expense when things get stolen from a car is often the damage to the car. Those windows aren't cheap to fix.
I assume you offered to buy him Cadbury creme eggs and have been happily married for several years now?

That last one is a low blow. No city deserves such a fate.
