That halftime show is what people mean when they say "joy is an act of resistance."
I had the same question, and I donβt know. Didnβt find anything in a search. So Iβm wearing all black today. Thanks for asking.
Iβll also take time today to reach out to Project Ishmael to ask if theyβll accept my invitation to be the donation recipient for my Purple Takeover: A Prince Celebration. Check out their work as a pro bono immigration legal progam for New Orleans kids. Save the date for June 6 at Tipitinaβs. π 2/2
I endorse todayβs National Shutdown, but if youβre like me and canβt shut down, I like this list of alternative actions suggested by Bright Black Candle. I also advocate for shopping w/local & small biz.

The bad part about taking an evening nap is that when you wake up at 11 o'clock, you can't go back to sleep all night.
Per Bernice King, we should also take the time to acknowledge her mother, the queen Mrs. Coretta Scott King, today as well.
Today is also her dayπππ

2026 is the 50th anniversary of P-Funk landing the Mothership πΈ. Oct. 27, 1976, is when the 1st ever Mothership landing happened at the Municipal Auditorium, New Orleans. The now-closed auditorium still stands, overlooking Congo Square. Iβm planning to commemorate this legendary event in some way. π€πΎ

PMRC memories. As a rebellious kid, I remember this label was like a badge of honor π
Via @boomtownpodcast.bsky.social: 40yrs ago today (1985), Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) agreed to start adding Parental Warning labels to albums. The now standard B&W sticker was introβd in 1990.

Tonight I went to see βMove Ya Body: The Birth of House.β What I was NOT expecting to see in it was an interview with Captain Sky. That + the filmmaking, factual accuracy, & truth telling are why I so love this documentary. Plus the film fully contextualizes disco cultureβa wish come true. ππΎπͺ©
Congrats to Danny Bedrosian on his 2nd book, βMake My Funk the P-Funk: Parliament-Funkadelicβs Meteoric Rise in 1975 from Chocolate City to Mothership Connection.β
Itβs a perfect companion to his 2023 book, βThe Authorized P-Funk Song Reference: Official Canon of Parliament-Funkadelic, 1956-2023.
I even let my picture be taken, willingly! Those who know me know what a commitment to this project is represented here!
Sign up for the book release conversation, me and my pal and colleague Barrye Brown from the Schomburg!
