In a new whitepaper published in the International Journal of Wellbeing, the usability of various epidemiological study designs are at the core. While focusing on the study of compassion, the whitepaper investigates how methods from research into chronic diseases can also contribute to other fields๐

Our new study, published in Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, adresses the current knowledge gap on the prediction of IBD based on early life risk factors, developing a clinically valid prediction model - particularly for the younger-onset of UC.

Persons with IBD has a much higher risk of spondylarthritis (SpA) than others. This is one of the most significant findings in our new study that has just been published in Arthritis & Rheumatology ๐

What a pleasure to participate in #ECCO26! ๐
We were happy to contribute with talks, oral presentations of abstracts, and poster presentations. Associate Professor @sazonovs.bsky.social received the Young Researcher Award 2026 and Assistant Professor Filip Ottosson received the ECCO Grant.

We are widely represented at ECCOโ26 Congress, providing a number of presentations, talks, and poster presentations. We are looking very much forward to participating in the transformative discussions on how, together, we can improve holistic care for the millions living with IBD worldwide. See you!
After five months, we are now saying goodbye to Mical Woldu ๐ฎ๐น During her internship, she carried out a nationwide Danish cohort study to see whether IBD clusters within families affects the development of IBD โ helping to highlight the role of environmental factors alongside genetics

New study in Gastroenterology shows thatย increased aggregated genetic risk of IBD is associated with a more severe disease course, as measured by inflammatory markers,ย medication need, hospitalizations, and gastrointestinal surgeries.

Though often co-studied, our latest study reveals that Crohnโs Disease and ulcerative colitis harbor distinct genealogical, genetic, and microbial associations with a broad spectrum of immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMIDs).

It has been a fruitful day for our OPTICS group meeting with collaborators across disciplines and from around the world, ambitiously aiming to elucidate the role of microplastics as risk factors of IBD, specifically regarding the yet unexplained segmental intestinal inflammation of Crohnโs disease.
