The Strange Dentistry of Jeffrey Epstein The convicted sex offender's dark obsession with teeth

Jeffrey Epstein had a fully equipped dental operatory on his private island lined with sculpted faces. His last girlfriend was a dentist. The word "dentist" appears 1,815 times in his emails.

Terrifying, tbh!

Cover of The Wax Child by Olga Ravn. The cover has an image of a woman in (presumably) 1600s attire, a dark, long-sleeved dress with a chainlink belt at the waist. Her face is covered in flames.

In love with this book. The writing is stunning!

Labour's perpetual "it's the children who are wrong" energy. You'd think they'd learn from the Corbyn era, but noooo

Labour’s *majority* in Gorton and Denton in 2024 – just 19 months ago – was 13,000+. Tonight it got fewer than 10,000 votes total, on an almost identical turnout. In its heartland. That’s what a collapse of your core vote looks like.

A shame to lead with the accent thing when the music is so rapturous!

No. I'm fed up. Labour has let us down - and not only on leasehold. I will not be voting Labour at the next election.

I just want to live somewhere, where at any given time I don't need to have a "harassment diary" to hand, I don't have to be constantly thinking about recording and reporting incidents.
Is that too much to ask?

I just think they're all way too close to the US tech industry - and I don't understand why, but I'm gonna go with "money"

I think my main issue with AI really is just it constantly gets things wrong. I can use Google once, check my sources, or be "lazy" and use AI, but then I must double check with Google anyway, so what's the point?

22.02.2026 17:21 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

What I mean is: the streets are full of litter, fly-tipping, and, in some cases, poop (dog and human) now, and I really think this is kind of why

22.02.2026 14:49 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

I guess it's solving something for people at the bottom of the pile, but the lower-middle is getting pinched and, frankly, high rental neighbourhoods are deteriorating

22.02.2026 14:47 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Temp accomm being so lucrative to run is doing a weird thing to neighbourhoods tbh, shunting "just about managing" employed people out and moving asylum seekers and prison releases in. Private LL also don't have the same responsibilities to evict ASB tenants as local authorities had

22.02.2026 14:47 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

The thing is, the product isn't for us, it's for them. How much data-harvesting is being done under the guise of "new tech"? I'd guess, a lot! That's why comsumers can't be allowed a choice

21.02.2026 16:15 πŸ‘ 4 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

This looks insane, actually

20.02.2026 10:08 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

this is a very basic point to make but I hate that so many tech people are going "whoops haha AI is about to destroy society as we know it!" and yet incredibly few tech people are arguing in favour of just...slowing down the roll-out of AI, apparently progress must crush us and we have no say in it?

20.02.2026 09:37 πŸ‘ 689 πŸ” 85 πŸ’¬ 58 πŸ“Œ 30

I'm pretty worried that we aren't talking about UBI more than we are. I'm not even convinced UBI is a great solution, but kinda seems like we're about to be staring down the barrel of an emergency and noone is planning for it

20.02.2026 08:25 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Potentially. But there's always the amount of energy - and therefore expense - needed as a limiting factor. My understanding is that improvements will slow a lot, if not already happening, so that the reality falls far short of predictions

19.02.2026 14:27 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Right. It's not inherently bad, it's just gatekept by all the worst people, ensuring that all its most depressing ramifications will come to fruition, rather than its positive potential

19.02.2026 14:20 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

If "AI" was being built, used, and planned for in responsible ways--the way a civilization designed to enhance human thriving would do--then a lot more people would be enthusiastic about its potential. But the people in charge of defining what AI will be are the fucking worst short-term scumbags.
