My first position with the NPS was cut during Trumpβs first term and now, as a postdoc, funding and positions are hard to come by. The way he casually throws peopleβs genuine care for health/climate/education out the windowβ¦
20 days into 2026 and I feel fried.

Before we go, I have to acknowledge the ICE summary execution of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis. This 37-year old woman leaves behind a young child whose father has already passed away. Like many of you, I'm in a state of shock after watching the two different video angles of the final moments of her life. She posed no danger to ICE at all, they shot her through her windshield anyway, and then DHS Secretary Kristi Noemβin full contradiction of the video evidenceβlied, saying that Good attempted to ram the officers. Supported by Donald Trump, she called it an act of terrorism. Well, there was an act of terrorism, and ICE committed it. Justice for Renee Nicole Good.
Iβm not going to lie. Iβve been writing about the War on Terror in its depravity my whole adult life. And the brazen execution of Renee Nicole Good has left me in a state since the moment I watched it.

Should be interesting! Coming from SE US, I donβt hear much about mid and northeastern fire ecology.
Check out the latest U.S. Seasonal #Drought #Outlook valid from November 2025 to the end of January 2026. Bottom line there appears to be more areas that will see drought persisting or developing than areas that will experience improvement or removal of drought. Get full details at buff.ly/aZCrLIo
