Where Floydβs used to be?
@f1tv.bsky.social that race could have been an email. Congratulations to the safety car, again. #belgiangrandprix #f1
Thanks for the mention. My grandmother was like, βyouβre in the paper today.β Made her day. π
Mayor Helps said it best, perception is reality, so no matter the averages or instances, if people feel unsafe, then theyβre unsafe.
I canβt speak to the other questions, Im not sure what youβre asking. :)
New leadership will likely see more funding, especially with their first budget request.
Letβs see if the Mayors will help them, especially with 2026 election around the corner.
To clarify, beat/bike officers can be allocated from within the existing resources, itβs not perfect, but it can work.
Crown is slow and courts are backed up (but improving) and private businesses are walking away from their own loss prevention practices, so the Police aka tax payer foots the bill to cover them/protect them.
Weβre on the same page and beat/bike officers can be allocated dwtn.
Itβs not in the wheelhouse of VicPD I can assure you. Our criminal code/justice system has made it easier for criminals to disobey the law, unfortunately Police see a revolving door of perpetrators.
DVBβs survey is pertinent, but extra officers wonβt solve their concerns.
And speaking to your point about the budget, remember that Vicpd is responsible for the safety of 5 Million visitors a year in addition to another 100,000 to 200,000 CRD residents who frequent downtown services (concerts, parades, etc), so the budget is large to accommodate these aspects.
Thereβs a perception that extra beat/bike officers patrolling the areas will stop crime, it wonβt because retail thefts, for example, are baked into many business plans (shrinkage) because those who steal arenβt held accountable enough (charges, jail time) to make a difference.
Itβs not incumbent on the Police to improve the perception of safety, definitely canβt spend your way out of it, itβs the responsibility of the governments to support community projects and increase business supports that improve livability.
Nice shot, Andy.
Are the pastries any good?
Wish it was βinteresting,β but itβs not. : -) Saanich was short Board members & I was nearing the end of my term at VicPD, so I was approached & asked to apply, Im bringing over decades of Governance/Finance/Non Profit leadership experience.
Appreciate your analysis, keep it up. π
My condolences and prayers to the families and friends of the victims of the horrific events at a street festival in #yvr this evening. And to the the first responders @vancouverpd.bsky.social & CICβa arriving on scene, please take care of yourselves.
Budget cuts. Used to work there, it barely gets by (decades ago) and nowadays.
My condolences to Catholics and everyone around the world as we mourn the loss of His Holiness Pope Francis (Jorge Mario Bergoglio). #Pope #EasterMonday
βThe strength of our democracy rests in the hands of its citizens. This is our moment to shape the futureβby casting our vote.β
You can vote for your chosen candidate at any #electionscanada office until April 22nd.
After that, voting continues at your local riding office until April 28th.
@aaronlypkie.bsky.social would know the answer to this, the Islandβs go to expert on rail around here.
Happened often when then PM Trudeau visited YYJ, line ups around the block, especially in 2019.
Likewise, Dan. Give my best to your family for me.
Eid Mubarak! π
Wishing a joyous Eid al-Fitr to everyone celebrating across the world!

Back to the Future reference for the win.
Talk your local candidates in your riding.
Go to town halls, coffee chats & association gatherings.
Vote for person (not the party) that you feel is best for your community.
Do this & you will be sending the right, hard working & committed person to Ottawa.

My advice to anyone following the Canadian Election is to stay off Social Media because there are so many disinformation machines at work from around the world trying to ensure their favorite candidate wins. #canadaelection #canada
