Here’s a recent #bird shot for my #birding followers.

This immature Tricolored #Heron flew a short distance to avoid a dog and landed about 15 feet from me.

It calmly allowed me to get a few nice shots

I love the details, especially seeing through both nostrils to the tidal lagoon background

JPL techies keep finding ingenious ways to keep alive the two Voyager probes, after 48 years. An impressive example of multi-generational human competence and a reminder that the scions of chippers-of-flint-arrowheads remain admirable and much-needed.

Swallow perched on a dead tree in front of some beard moss (Usnea), blueish-purple wings, green back, clean white front and violet neck.

The first thing I noticed was how fast this swallow flew. When it landed, I noticed the white cheeks and green back. I was thrilled to realize that it was a Violet-green Swallow. They are stunning!
