From my perspective a const enum is a great developer experience addition (not sold on other enums though). The optimization is nice, but the expressiveness it provides is the real win.
I guess that’s where the difference is. Have always assumed someone would use a sufficiently advanced compiler to execute JavaScript.
const enums from typescript are frowned upon by so many, but I really don’t get why.
X.reason makes a lot of sense in code when it’s compiled to a result of `0`.
