π I turned it on in the background just now & heard my 13-year-old daughter guffawing at the title of Tom Hanks' lecture in the opening scenes: "The Interpretation of Symbols."
If your fictional academic discourse strains the credulity of middle schoolers, it's probably time to hire a consultant.
laughably dumb movie but opus dei makes an appearance

Ya it's wild here!
Aaaugh!
Sadly I didn't capture Ursula's harness-swoop to full terror, but you can see her in "Menacing Giant" form here:
Wait, your school's stage production of "The Little Mermaid" DIDN'T have silks aerialists?
Ariel's legs rip from her tailfin as she floats to humanity 'neath a laser light show.
So apparently this is what happens nowadays at the junior high school play.
From my kid's seemingly-normal middle school:
After the arrests of powerful men across the world, you might be asking why the US has so much trouble holding its leaders accountable for lawbreaking. Since Nixon, all three branches of government have worked hard to ensure they can break the law with impunity www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...
Years ago our admin did a red and black report. It took salaries & how much $ each instructor made in tuition $ for classes we taught-you were in the red or black. They released numbers once & shut it down bc humanities were producing huge $ for uni & engineers, business and scientists were losing $
this explains a lot. apparently the BBC promised Davidson that they would edit out any swearing, but despite having a 2-hour delay they didn't do that. instead he was miced up from 40 rows back variety.com/2026/film/aw...

Hi, @bsky.app - When I open your competitors' platforms, the reason is OFTEN that they allow me to DM images, and you don't. Please consider adding this feature.
The more I learn about Alysa Liu, the harder it is not to notice how important aging from 16 to 18 was to her empowerment to set boundaries & insist on making her own choices.
I will think about that the next time I hear apologia defending sex crimes against older teens as "natural" or "harmless."
This was the Olympic event whose result I was most excited for as a Utahn.

It's so awesome that when a doctor calls a simple prescription into a pharmaceutical mega-chain, and your location doesn't have it, they just wait until someone drives there to tell you that you can't have the medicine you need until tomorrow afternoon. Real well-oiled machine we got here. A+ work.
My colleague Julia Ainsley, who is not on this site but is a killer on the DHS beat, obtained exclusive photos of Kristi Noem's luxury jet that she needs for "deportations."
Never in a million years did I ever fathom when I resurrected the Epstein story in 2018 that it would lead to first arrest of a British Royal in four centuries. Not since King Charles I was arrested in 1647.

2026, in brief
In the past three weeks, we've had measles at the SLC airport, Primary Children's Hospital and lots of schools and clinics. Health officials say to watch for symptoms. www.axios.com/local/salt-l...
If you are wondering what words the all-male Congress found so "blasphemous" that they felt compelled to literally scrape them off the monument, they were: ''Woman, first denied a soul, then called mindless, now arisen, declared herself an entity to be reckoned.''
Yup yup yup. Most of my libertarian contacts in Utah are from when I covered police use of force as a beat. It's been ... illuminating to witness their abdication of the issue amid the biggest expansions of aggressive police powers in living memory.
The libertarians in my orbit are very focused on "socialist" policies whose enactment is nowhere near plausible, but say little to nothing on the actual, ongoing deterioration of 4th amendment protections. Those who once opposed restrictive borders now are silent or supportive of mass deportations.
Anyway, Great Britain's Charlotte Banks won a gold medal, Italy's Michela Moioli won a silver and France's Lea Casta won bronze, for those who don't want to search for half of each team.
